This week marked the first week of “official” marathon training. It’s not too much different from what I normally do, except for the Saturday long runs. I’m 17 weeks out from the NYC Marathon (weird training length, I know) but I used this same plan for my first marathon and by the time I finished, I was healthy and still loved running. I was scared going into training that I would get burnt out, but because the schedule is pretty flexible and only calls for 4 days of running/week, running didn’t feel like a chore. Getting up super early on the other hand….I swear that’s half the battle.
This isn’t a typical week because I wanted to fit in Orange Theory. When school starts, Tuesdays and Thursdays will probably be cross training/rest.
Monday: 3.25 miles + 10 minutes of weights
Tuesday: 5 miles
Wednesday: Orange Theory (3.6 miles + Ab circuit challenge)
Friday: Orange Theory (3.4 miles + weights/rowing machine)
Saturday: 6 miles for the long run this week
Sunday: Yoga or rest
