This past weekend I was in Tampa for almost 50 hours exactly. I landed at 4:30 on Friday afternoon and left at 6:15 last night. 50 is a fitting number because it was the reason I went home in the first place…my dad’s 50th birthday!
Friday night I ate a delicious home cooked meal and hung out with some family friends. My mom made salmon for dinner and I have to admit, I was nervous to eat it because chicken is my usual pre-long run dinner.
Well that salmon (and a big, not-pictured) sweet potato worked some wonders as my run Saturday morning felt amazing.
After a shower and breakfast, I devoured this beauty. I could have done it all in one sitting but I paced myself throughout the weekend.
My dad’s party was not a surprise, but we did have surprise guests…my grandparents (his parents) from Pennsylvania. It was my job to sneak them from the airport to the party without my dad knowing. Complete success! He was shocked and kind of confused how he didn’t figure it out. It was a great night celebrating the old man’s 50th (even though looks 45).

My sister made this photo collage for the party!
Sunday was the epitome of a lazy day. Food, football and family. What more could I want? My hunger pattern was so crazy yesterday that I ate lunch at 11 and dinner at 4. Felt kind of weird, but whatever works, stomach.
Now on the eve of another busy week I’m trying to regain my focus. It’s very easy for me to get overwhelmed with everything on my to-do list, especially when I was out of town. I just keep reminding myself to take “one day at a time.” I feel hope I will get a little breather once October hits but I’m not counting on that.
In the meantime, I crossed a small but necessary task of my list…a mini trip to the grocery store. I somehow resisted buying the magazines at the checkout counter. That takes skill.
Thanks, Katie for the link-up!
Looks like a great weekend, Emily! It’s always nice to have a healthy, home cooked meal and spend time with family. :) And omg I could eat a WHOLE watermelon! haha. :)
This past June, I just threw my mom a surprise 60th! I loved it, SO much fun!!!! I love surprises!
I bet she loved it! Seeing the surprised reaction is priceless.
