It’s been a week, although I think I say that every week. I started a different post with the intention of sharing my thoughts/lessons from said week but I somehow ended the post talking about football. What?! Needless to say, I’m frazzled…but I’m happy. Finding joy in the sunsets and dog cuddles. Persevering through the rough moments. Waiting for my egg to hatch.
Let’s stick with the good thoughts and feels today…
LOVING. Florida fall. Crisp blue skies, low 70’s and the most beautiful sunsets. Remember when I was complaining about summer weather? This makes up for it.
LISTENING (to). Podcasts aaaaand Christmas music, only as of yesterday. I needed some pre-holiday holiday cheer, don’t hate. Add Pentatonix to your holiday playlist.
WATCHING. Late night talk shows…the day after they air. What was life before Tivo? The Jimmy’s (Fallon and Kimmel) are coming in clutch right now. Do you have a favorite?
EATING. Salmon (with Dijon and rosemary). I had a piece for breakfast yesterday I love it so much. (#rethinkbreakfast)
FEELING. I’ll tell you what I’m feeling as I’m typing this (because it obviously changes every day hour)…pressure. Not necessarily bad pressure but I still feel it. Isn’t there a quote with diamonds forming under pressure? Does this mean I’m getting diamonds for Christmas?
LAUGHING (at). Archie. Even when everyone is home he’ll walk into his crate to nap. He has a perfectly good bed in the family room (and is allowed to sit on our couch!), but he still chooses his crate. Rocco hated the crate when he was a puppy so Archie’s behavior is very unusual to me. I feel the need to take a photo every time I see him in it.
PONDERING. My “five-year plan.” Let’s just laugh at that. I’ve been asked about my “five-year plan” many times during the interview process. I know it’s a very typical question and I answer with my rough idea/goal/would-be-nice-to-have…but a plan? The only thing I know for sure is I want to be happy. That’s the plan tomorrow and in five years.
APPRECIATING. Friendships…near and far.
And also this Instagram. I’m glad someone else can relate. Not that 2017 will magically make things better.

MISSING. My sister. She comes home tomorrow for break and we’re going to make snow angels for two hours, go ice skating, then we’ll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse cookie dough as fast as we can, and then we’ll snuggle.
Chances are we’ll watch Friends (the Thanksgiving episodes), spend money at Target (on things we don’t need) and go to yoga. We’ll likely wait until Christmas to watch Elf.

I haven’t listened to Christmas music since I always try to wait until after Thanksgiving, but I have been wanting to listen to it so much over the past week. I always pass by a store that has a Christmas tree already lit up when I am on my way to the school and it makes me want to cozy up in a blanket next to our Christmas tree (which we haven’t even set up yet) and have Michael Buble’s Christmas album on repeat. Soon enough!

We’ve got plenty of time for all the festivities :) They did a local tree lighting last night but I haven’t seen any others yet!
The weather has been semi-okay up here too! I can actually tolerate it!!! Let’s hope it doesn’t get colder (wishful thinking!)
YES Christmas music!!! If I don’t have a podcast on, then it’s Christmas music AND Hallmark channel Christmas movies <3 My guilty pleasure!

The weather does seem to be nice up north! I hope it holds for Thanksgiving at least :)
Everything is getting Christmas’d out, and I have to say I’m not ready for it. Thanksgiving is my holiday!
2016 has been a weird. weird year. That is about all I have to say about that.

YES. Joe Biden memes are hilarious. I laugh just thinking about them.
Haha archie how funny!! Can I come eat the cookie dough ;) That’s my favorite! Random but I was just telling my SIL last night that my mom would buy the rolled dough and I’m not sure we ever made the cookies lol we always just ate the dough.

Haha I think we did half pre-made dough and half homemade, although that didn’t stop from taste-testing.
I just wanna give archie a big hug, he’s so darn cute! And yes to salmon for breakfast, I’ve been known to eat the leftovers cold because it’s just so good!

Just did that this morning! Leftovers for the win.
Selma loves being in her cage as well! We have it all covered up so it’s like her private cave. Apparently some breeds of dogs (labs especially) prefer their own shelter and takes them back to their pack days. Maybe that’s what’s happening with Archie! I love how he’s all crushed up in one corner when he has tons of space lol!
Archie is a labradoodle! So interesting. I know- I always feel bad seeing him squished up like that haha
Glad I am not the only one with Pentatonix Christmas music on repeat! Also that is a terrifying question to be asked at job interviews… your 5 year plan. Based on the past few years I don’t even try to predict that far into the future anymore!

That’s my thought process too! I wouldn’t have been able to predict anything that’s happened so it’s safe to say I’m kind of clueless as to what to expect.
Awww… I love how much you love your sister; just saying that it warms my heart to see and treasure other friends who are treasuring the family relationships they’ve been given. <3

Just added them to my Christmas Spotify playlist :) Thanks for the suggestion!
My two most hated interview questions are the 5-year plan (I have a 5-minute plan and that is all) and “what are you looking for in a job?” I don’t know. I have very minimal job experience. I just want to feel useful and not be miserable. That shouldn’t be too hard, right?
Totally relating to the frazzled feeling right now, so yesss to focusing on the good things. And while I’m looking forward to the short Thanksgiving break, I’m REALLY looking forward to Christmas. Maybe Christmas music is what I need right now…

Seriously though. Glad we’re on the same page with that haha. Highly suggest a few minutes of Christmas music :)
I’m loving…surprise long, goofy conversations with my roommates, movements of feeling the sun on my face while walking from class and too many hugs to count.
I’m laughing…at those same roommates’ – and my – antics. And at the contradictory feelings of excitement and terror as I graduate college in one month!
I love the feeling of my sun on my face. Casey, that’s so exciting! I graduated last December and I still feel all those feelings. Congratulations- soak up this time!
I can’t help but smile when I listen to Christmas music :) and… spooky cosmic twins situation: I literally booked ice-skating tickets minutes before reading this post! Hope you have lots of fun- I absolutely love it, but only go around Christmas when all of the outdoor rinks get put up. x
PS. “No pressure, no diamonds” (Thomas Carlyle) – once the diamond is fully formed, it will have been worth the wait xx
Agreed. I just needed a little pick-me-up and the Christmas music definitely helped!
That might be my new favorite quote :) Hope you have a great weekend xo
Loving lately: Christmas music! No judgment–it’s never too early to start listening to Christmas music once November rolls around, I think. :) Also, I LOL’d at that Instagram… true true true!

And by the way, salmon always goes well with rosemary, right ? *haha*
Happy Thanksgiving Emily !
