I’m going to ask it even though it’s cliche: how is Christmas this Friday? It’s overwhelming and exciting at the same time, which seems to be the theme every year. This week has been all about making up for lost-Christmas celebration because of finals. We even had a random drop in temperature a few days ago so it felt *a little* more like the holidays. Don’t worry, now it’s back to 80.
See previous “currently” posts: November, October, September, August
Current book: So in last month’s post I told you that I bought the book “What Alice Forgot.” In this month’s post I’m telling you that I haven’t opened that book. Let December be the month of exams, packing, exams and packing.
Current song: Christmas- “Mary Did You Know?” by Pentatonix. This is my favorite Christmas song and, thanks to Gretchen, my new favorite rendition.
Non-Christmas- “Love Yourself” by Justin Beiber. Yes, unfortunately I love it.
Current drink: I can’t believe I’m saying this, but lately I’ve been drinking coffee. About a half cup of hot coffee in the morning with a little almond milk creamer. I tried iced coffee last month but used tons of creamer so it was nothing like the real thing. I don’t need the caffeine but am liking the warming ritual.
Current guilty pleasure: Buying food online? Does that count? I’ve been all about Vitacost and ordering speciality foods online. See “new to me item” below.
Current food: Massaged kale salads, white sweet potatoes and roasted parsnips. EXTREMELY random.
Current new-to-me item/activity: Coconut butter. Specifically, Essentially Coconut Butter. I don’t love it by the spoon (like I do my almond butter), but it is incredible in oatmeal and smoothies and on rice cakes.
Current need: to wrap presents. I don’t mind it…once I force myself to start. Every year I try to be creative with wrapping and gift tags but it ends up looking like my dog wrapped the gift.
Current workout: Upper body weights and yoga. I’m slowly getting back into yoga and other forms of cross-training. Hopefully this means running is around the corner. Read here and here for an update.
Current procrastination: Wrapping presents. “Need” and “procrastination” seem to always overlap for me.
Current blessing: That some extended family members flew down for my graduation. Also, all the love (real and via social media) that I’ve received lately. I can’t say “thank you” enough!
Current quote: Spotted in Nordstrom.
Current mood: Excited, nervous, content, calm, stressed?, happy. So basically every emotion in the book with no real explanation for them.
Current excitement: Besides Christmas and my 21st birthday? We’re going to Mexico as a family in a few weeks and I CANNOT wait.
Current e-card/funny quote: How accurate is this? Flashbacks to high school calculus….

Hahah I laughed all the way through this post! Especially at your massaged salads (again, I love it), your emotions (me every hour of the day), and that instagram is awesome. I’m so excited for your family trip! You’ve worked so hard these past years, you deserve it!

I love coffee and everything about it…I cannot wait for you to start reading “What Alice Forgot”…seriously one of my favorite books EVER…So many LOL moments…XOOX

Ah I can’t procrastinate much longer! And I don’t want too…I’ve only heard great things.
Welcome to team coffee! I started off hating coffee and slowly got into it and now I can’t get my day going without it. I love it with some almond milk in it too. I am such a bad gift wrapper and I hate gift wrapping as it is so I can’t help you out there haha

I just like my regular breakfast ritual so adding some coffee seems natural!
My morning coffee (POT) is such a ritual! I just love the taste and comfort! But then I just drink tons of tea the rest of the day :P
And I would so wrap you’re gifts! Mine don’t always look pretty either, but it’s the one time of year I get to wrap and it’s oddly comforting!
AND I’m waiting for a massive Vitacost Hual to come in (tomorrow) that I ordered!!! NEED THE SPEICAL GOODS!

Vitacost is addicting! Especially when I pay with PayPal…it’s effortless.
I need to start wrapping gifts, too! But first I need to go get more wrapping paper. I’m terrible at wrapping, but I don’t hate it. That Instagram is so accurate, and it’s why I usually just refuse to talk about exams until they’ve been graded. I don’t need the added anxiety!

High school pre-calc and calc stressed me out SO much! I laugh now thinking about how much pressure I felt.
Ummm can I hide in your suitcase when you go to Mexico? Please and thank you. I need to wrap presents too but they don’t travel well so I need to wait until I get “home” (aka rhode island) to do it… and finish up last minute shopping. Procrastination is my middle name sometimes.

Only if I can hide in your suitcase to Hawaii ;)
I’m so glad that you like that song! It’s so beautiful :) When I saw that meme I was cracking up…reminds me of high school calc haha! If I lived closer I would definitely volunteer to gift wrap for you! I love it so much and even go to the mall to do gift wrapping for the humane society!

That is such a good idea to gift wrap for the humane society!!! Double bonus points from me.
Coffee for the taste. I drink half caff or decaf! And I totally know what you mean about not reading for pleasure during school. My reading took a major hit during undergrad! Then i started with my Kindle during grad and got injured, so I spent a lot of time on the spin bike with classics.

I could drink decaf without noticing but my family drinks regular so I just tag along (#lazy).
I can’t stop listening to the Pentatonix Christmas songs. They’re so great!
Me either! I got my mom hooked too.
I still have to try coconut butter, I eat a lot of peanut butter and even more so now that I’m working because it is handy for a quick office snack with an apple or GF rice/quinoa cake. Would you say it’s more like using coconut oil than a nut butter?
Alyssa @ renaissancerunnergirl recently posted…Cinnamon Raisin Quinoa Muffins
I’ve heard coconut butter and oil compared to peanut butter and oil. You wouldn’t use the two interchangeably but the taste is similar! It’s more for spreading than cooking.
I love how you also love J-Biebs’ “Love Yourself.” I’ve been obsessed for like a month haha. It’s the song that turned me into a Belieber. I recently finished “What Alice Forgot” and was SO good and a pretty quick read too. Your trip to Mexico sounds like it will be a blast!
Amanda @ ExploringLifeAndThings recently posted…Racing in 2015
Her other books were quick (good!) reads so I’m exited to start. If I don’t finish it before my trip I can guarantee it will be done after Mexico!
So much YES to everything in this post. Especially procrastinating wrapping! NEED to get on that today. In fact, I am holding myself to it!! I am usually done so early but this year I was definitely a procrastinator! Also, that body butter?! I bet it smells good enough to EAT!! LOL

It’s coconut butter! It is for eating…SO good :)
Bahahaha! Just goes to show you my brain is mush from GRE studying!! ???
Hey, it probably wouldn’t be bad as body butter ;) Good luck studying!
I have been loving Pentatonix lately, that song is one of my favorites! It’s chilling. Also, the gift wrapping. Terrible at it. I would hire anybody to do it for me. I just end up getting way too frustrating and putting everything in bags. That easy life. Loving your blog Emily!
That song really is chilling. We never have any gift bags in our house or that would definitely be my go-to method.
My friend just introduced me to Pentatonix and LOVE the music. I drink coffee for both the taste and the caffeine, my mornings are rough without it! I am a pretty awful wrapper. My mom worked at the mall around Christmas time in high school and she wrapped presents, so she is SO GOOD at it. I need a couple lessons from her hah
I want to take a gift wrapping class! I would seriously love it. I always stare in awe at the people in stores who do it so effortlessly.
I love the song Mary Did You Know! Have you heard of Straight No Chaser, they have some pretty amazing Christmas music!
I spent 3 hours wrapping presents last night, next year everyone is getting fruit cake. I’m done! ha!
Coffee is a requirement to get the day moving for both taste and energy!
Kristin recently posted…One Pan Chicken and Vegetables
No I haven’t heard of them! I will add them to my Spotify Christmas playlist. Haha I’m with you on that…or if they’re lucky, they’ll get jars of almond butter.
I hate how much I love that Bieber song. Mexico will be so much fun!! I’m headed down your way tomorrow (well, a little more south!) and I’m looking forward to that warm weather!

Is it weird that I listen to Pentatonix version of “Mary did you know?” year round? Because I totally do. Those kids are crazy talented and that song….gives me legit chills!
And yesssss to all the coffee! Though my tea game has been considerably increased this season. So many yummy flavors to try out!
Vitacost is my favorite place, like ever. Such great customer service and incredibly fast shipping!

NOT weird! I have so much respect for them too. I do have a lot of tea flavors in my pantry to try, but the coffee is already made when I wake up so I resort to that ha
I am so in love with coffee! I’m about to pour a glass right now! And that Bieber song – I can’t get enough of it. It’s so good! Thanks so much for including my link lady! :)

I’m not a huge Bieber fan, but I LOVE “Love Yourself”! It’s so pretty and has a great beat! Also, the dancers in the music video are so talented!!
His new album is making me become a fan. I really like it!
