Hello! I’m so happy to be here. I’m so thankful for your kind words on my last post. I’m so tired.
My new schedule will take some getting used to, which is to be expected. So far my energy is great from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., but then I’m like “time to check out of life.” It’s funny/weird to go from being so active on social media 24/7 to barely opening the apps. That balance is an art and will take time to perfect…or not perfect, because that’s impossible.
This week is the best week to Think Out Loud. I hope to write a more thorough post about life/job/current status this weekend, but until then…
1. First, the new emojis. Update right now if you haven’t. Here are my favorites, with my reasoning below:
-IDK girl because IDK in real life
-Fingers crossed, because the emoji I thought was “praying” is actually a “high five.” I needed one to wish someone good luck (besides the clover, which I do use often)
-Avocado, for obvious reasons
-The rainbow isn’t new, but this is a bolder version and I appreciate it.
-The eagle, for my Eagles
-The girl behind the screen, because that’s what I do all day now
2. Every year as a family we drive around town looking at Christmas lights. From the outside, this looks like a slightly annoying house. But from the inside of your car, it’s a Trans-Siberian masterpiece. The family has their own radio station and coordinates the flashing of lights to the beat of Christmas music. Bonus points for creativity. Double bonus points because I have no idea how they did it.
3. The dogs saw Santa. They were perfect, Santa was underwhelming.
4. I think this is a better version of the Naughty or Nice list.

5. This happens every year, but I keep forgetting that my birthday is at the end of the month (the 30th). And, per usual, I wish it was in March, April or any week that is not in-between Christmas and New Year’s. #TeamHalfBirthdays
6. One thing I noticed immediately about work (that’s not work-related): I took eating lunch at home for granted. Not that packing a lunch is bad or difficult, it’s just a luxury to sit at a table and eat a meal out of a bowl vs. Tupperware.
7. This was probably not worthy of a blog post but I’m typing in bed and just felt like chatting.
8. I feel very out of the loop with everything in the world (except for what I get from E! News, ESPN and USA Today alerts) so tell me what’s going on in your life. Or the world. I do know about the Flip or Flop couple and Kanye visiting Trump. So, the very important things.
To my friends up north, stay warm this weekend. Better yet, plan a trip to visit me.
OMG the Santa picture — I LOVE it!!! And yeah… I could definitely use a trip to Florida right about now. My phone says it is 2 degrees out right now and I am dreading having to walk out to my car in a few minutes

They were surprisingly well-behaved with Santa :) You need an automatic car starter! That weather is hard to fathom.
Be careful with that invitation to visit. I think we were in the negatives last night? Ridley is going to daycare for her own safety. Also, I slept on the couch with the dog last night.

I was serious though. You of all people are welcome anytime.
That “idk” emoji is my life :P
I’ve always wanted to go “Christmas light sight-seeing”! Ha! So fun!
My brother started his first job a few months ago and I’m still floored he is even functioning! He has a killer commute though that can take like 2 hours to get home I hear :O

Mine isn’t that bad but usually takes about 45 minutes. Thankful for podcasts!
I would LOVE to be in Florida right now. It was 8 when I woke up this morning. EIGHT DEGREES. That’s not ok! I’m going to Cancun next year and I keep looking at the temperature and debating going now..

You’re right, that is not ok. We went to Cancun last year around this time and I wouldn’t hate going back (even though the weather is perfectly fine here lol).
Obsessed with the new emojis!! The bacon and taco are everything to me haha!

There were like twenty versions of flowers so thankfully the food ones are up to par now!
The new emojis are so cool; but I haven’t updated yet, so I NEED TO! :)
And the dogs look like they were just perfect with Santa :)

They were surprisingly good! I was worried.
Ohhh packing lunches. It drives me nuts lol I hate it. Actually Aaron is on his Christmas break already and last night I said I’m the happiest I don’t have to pack lunches every night! haha

I just made mine for the next two days and I’m glad I’m ahead of the game (at least for a little while!).
I love the new emojis! How did they just create a bacon one?! My favorite is the fingers crossed too!

They definitely needed an update to add some necessary ones!
Congrats on your new job! And that picture of your dogs is adorable. Making my doggie fever come back strong haha.

Thank you so much, Amanda! I was just thinking about all of the puppy photos we’ll (likely) be seeing on social media after Christmas morning. My fever just won’t ever go away haha
I 100% need to update my phone just for the IDK and avocado emojis. Gonna go do that now. And I went to hot yoga this morning and am currently sitting in front of the fire in need of a hot shower. It is SO COLD outside. I forgot it could get this cold. The boot on my ankle *does* mean I get out of walking the dog in the ice, but I honestly kind of miss it. Whether I get to run Disney or not, I’m still headed to Florida in February to cheer on my aunt (and escape the cold).

I feel like I would live in a hot yoga room if I lived up north! I’m so glad you’re still coming down here. A trip to Disney never hurts :)
The dogs with santa are adorable! Packing a lunch totally changed my eating habits, its so much easier to control what we eat!

I haven’t packed a lunch since high school so it feels very foreign (and school-like) to me!
OMG, those emojis!!! I’m sure they’re only available on iPhone right now, huh? Ugh. Why, oh why, did I have to go the Samsung route??!! #patiencegrasshopper

I’m not sure :/ I hope you get them soon!
That Christmas light set-up is brilliant! Hope you settle in soon and that your colleagues are friendly! xx
I was throughly impressed with that set-up! Especially for a house, not a business or large company. Thank you :)
Hooray for emojis. How did we survive without them?
Aw your pups are so sweet. Has everyone started calling them doggo and puppers in the US too? That is one trend I am not backing.
Megan recently posted…Thank you notes to the world #2
Haha no I haven’t heard those terms yet! I don’t think I’d back that trend either.
You just reminded me to update my phone so that I can get the avocado emoji, haha! I’m excited for it. :P Also, your dogs are adorable. They always just make me melt! Happy holidays, Emily! xx
