Friday Favorites

01/23/15 | College, Favorites, Life, Link-up

Happy Friday! How was your week? Today is actually the worst day of my week because I have meetings/work from 12-7. Whoever thought it was a good idea to schedule a 3-hour training on a Friday afternoon is crazy. Also, I decided not to run the half marathon tomorrow for logistic reasons (I’d have to take the Metro at 4:30 a.m. and I didn’t feel like braving crowds). An extra few hours of sleep and a solo run will make do!

Moving on…let’s recap the week with a few things I’ve been loving lately.

Thanks, Clare and Heather!

1. Kombucha. Yes, I’m still on this train. I don’t drink coffee/caffeine and I need something to get me through to the end of a the day. I still consider it a luxury ($$) so I’ve been saving it for my longer days, like my 3 hour class on Wednesday nights…

2. It Was Me All Along. This book is incredible. I needed to pick a recently released book to read and review for a class so I was happy to see other bloggers posting about Andie’s book. I highly suggest picking up a copy! It didn’t hurt that I read it while sitting poolside ;)

3. Wrangler. Is anyone else Today Show obsessed like me? Well, they have a new addition to the show: Wrangler, a puppy with a purpose. He will be spending a year with Today training to become a guide dog. Too much cuteness! It makes me miss my puppy even more.

4. On-campus farmer’s market. Every Wednesday there is a farmer’s market in the center of campus. I always forget about it but this week I walked through and “window shopped” (aka I didn’t have any money on me). There’s only one fruit stand but tons of other food and product vendors.

Have a wonderful weekend!

What book are you currently reading? I need some suggestions!

Nikes or high heels? My feet were not made for heels.

Damn…I want to BUY OUT that farmer’s market!
Sneakers are what I always wear, but I do love heels! But in all honesty, I just kinda hate shoes to begin with :P

Sneakers and flip flops are pretty much all I wear. Heels on the RARE occasion.

I am happy to hear that It Was Me All Along is a good book! I’ve seen it talked about on the news and was wondering how people liked it. As soon as I get some free time I am going to pick that book up!
As much as I love dressing up and putting on heels I am a Nike girl all the way. I joke that I am going to wear Nikes under my wedding dress when I get married haha.

Oh I say I’m going to wear running shoes at my wedding too! Don’t know if my mom would love that idea haha

I feel ya on the long days. On Tuesday and Thursday I run in the morning before my 9:30 class, then go to 7 or 8 with work on and off all day. It makes you exhausted! Love my school’s farmer’s market as well! Nothing makes me happier than walking by tons of plump strawberries and fresh breads :). The fruit vendor’s stall in your photo looks aaaamazing!

Right?! Walking by the farmer’s market just puts me in a good mood! It makes campus not feel so “college-like.”

That’s so cool that your school has an on-campus farmer’s market! We have one that’s a few miles away, but it’s definitely not as convenient!

There’s a really good one a few miles away from me but I’ve never made it over! On my list for this year.

Oh, night classes. ._. Those are definitely hard to get through. I’ve been wanting to try kombucha, but unfortunately haven’t been able to find it anywhere! :[

This is the first time I’ve heard of Wrangler, but that puppy is adorableee. <3 I'd love to help train guide dogs + horses. *-* Also totally with you on those shoes, haha. I would much rather have functional shoes than heels!

Whole Foods always has it! So does my local chain grocery store. That’s amazing that you train guide dogs and horses! Wrangler is a cutie.

Hahah I wanted Nikes — love it. And it’s so great that there’s a farmer’s market on your campus! My college town, Ithaca NY, had an AMAZING farmer’s market. It was seasonal, so it made it that much more special when it was nice enough to go. :) And ahhh the kombucha struggle is real.. I can’t afford to shell out $3 every time either! haha.

Lastly — I definitely want to check out that book, thanks for the rec! I’m (still) working my way through some Jane Austen books right now. They’re a bit slow-going, but I felt like I needed to catch up on the classics :)

    Have a great weekend, Em!

I read some Jane Austen in high school and some were hard to get through. Great classics though :)

    Nikes always and forever.
I’ve heard a lot about that book, I’m glad to hear you enjoy it too!
I’ve been reading Unbroken and its soooo good! I saw the movie before I started reading it and they left so much out of the movie, I definitely recommend the book!

I’m currently reading Unbroken, but I also recently read The Sports Gene, which focused a lot on running. That is a rough Friday schedule – you can sleep in, but there’s still so much to take of!

You have a farmer’s market ON your campus?! Too cool. This should be on every college campus. We did have a great farmer’s market just up the street, about a couple of blocks away from our campus though so I can’t complain! And that Cinderella photo. Too true. I agree.

Yes, every Wednesday! It could be better (not tons of healthy options) but it makes for some excitement on campus.

The Kombucha struggle is real. I wish I could drink it everyday but it’s more of a every so often thing when I treat myself to buying one!

Hey girl! I found you through the HCBN, and omggg you’re a Cane?! So am I! Unfortunately I graduated in May of 2013 so I’m not actually there anymore, but I don’t think I’ve come across any other bloggers at the U before! I’m so geekily excited, lol.
