The treadmill was the theme of the week. Not my first choice for a theme but I managed. It reminded me that I really don’t *hate* the treadmill on a weekday because I can watch my favorite morning shows (Mike & Mike and the Today Show). The weekends? Different story. NOTHING is on except repeat SportsCenter from the night before. I ended up watching music videos on CMT and MTV Saturday morning. Not a horrible option but I need to bring back watching Netflix on the treadmill ASAP. Or just stick with outside as much as possible (I like that better).
Ft Myers Marathon Training Week 6
Sunday: Hot yoga + 1 mile walk. I’m so glad there wasn’t a hurricane because my legs need to move the day after a long run. Yoga was a good choice too.
Monday: 5.25 miles @ 9:15 on the treadmill + a 30 min. upper body strength class at my campus gym. I just wasn’t feeling the full 6 on the treadmill. I’ll live.
Tuesday: 5 miles @ 9:15ish on the treadmill. The treadmill was NOT the plan but there was heat lightning again. Took it slow but I can’t remember the exact pace.
Wednesday: Taught spin
Thursday: 6 miles of speed work. I followed the workout but of course the mile paces were a few seconds off. 1 mile warm-up, 7:34, 7:16, 7:19 (half mile jog in between) and a 1 mile cooldown. The warm-up was done on the treadmill so it’s not pictured below.
Friday: 30 minutes of weights. Mostly upper body with a few squats and lunges.
Saturday: 17 miles (6.25 inside, 10.75 outside). Like last week I ran inside until the sun came up and then I ran outside. It wasn’t easy by any means but I felt OK. I think the biggest factors of my exhaustion were 1) getting up so early and 2) the heat. My legs felt fine but those things made it a little harder (but 17 miles is hard on its own).

Smiling because it’s over…and it’s breakfast time.
I know that doing some of my long run on the treadmill isn’t ideal but it’s my only option when it’s dark, and unfortunately that’s when it’s the coolest. My transition time is <5 minutes (bathroom/water). I think as long as I get time on my feet I’ll be fine.
Total: 33.25 miles, 1 spin class , 1 yoga class, 1 hour of strength training.
Lower body for life!
Depending on when you run (and if you’re an old soul like me) I recommend the Hallmark channel: 4am – Cheers, 5am-8am I Love Lucy, then on the weekends The Middle is on from 8-9, then the Golden girls, but during the week, golden girls starts at 8 which is better ;) Hahaha!

I’m totally the opposite. Upper body for life ;) We don’t have many channels in my apartment gym but I would like to watch The Middle.
I like upper body, probably because I feel like running is enough lower body. That is how my mind works lol. Fortunately my gym has Bravo TV on their cable plan I like most shows on Bravo. I get so bored on the treadmill though. Have a great weekend!

Exactly my mindset with weights! I feel like running should be more than enough for the lower body.
I almost never run on the treadmill but I think I’d be more up for it if my gym’s treadmills has individual TVs. We have a couple of big TVs that usually play Sports Center or the news, and that’s about it. It sounds like you had a great week of workouts!

I started using the treadmill at my apartment complex because it’s so small so I can control the TV’s. The gym on campus bothers me because the stations are mostly infomercials.
Great week of workouts! Good job!
I prefer upper body, because I feel that I’ve got work to do on my upper arms with toning and strengthening them up. As far as the treadmill, I rarely do my runs on them. Now, I do bike at the gym a lot and I love watching law shows like Law & Order, Criminal Minds, Castle, etc.

I prefer upper body, too! Love watching Law and Order. If I’m lucky that’s on early in the morning.
I typically watch the news while I am on the treadmill in the morning. I find it is the perfect way to get caught up on all the happenings and then I am good the rest of the day. Waking up really early like that will definitely take a lot out of you. I hope you were able to get in a awesome nap! ;)

On the weekdays watching the news is great! I wish they had it on a 6 a.m. on Saturdays when I need it haha
You are KILLING your runs, lady! And I admire the chipper attitude to have to doing them. I remember coming back from a midterm when I was half marathon training and realizing that I needed to run 10 miles instead of being able to take a nap. Not a happy camper ;) .
Keep up the amazing work!

Thank you so much! I know the feeling…some days naps > runs.
