One week (almost) complete here in the city. I’m hoping the sun comes out this weekend because I have some fun plans. I promise I’ll stop talking about the weather when it starts feeling like summer.
Because I don’t start my internship until Monday I’ve had a lot of time to explore the city. More importantly, I’ve had a lot of time to eat at different restaurants. There is no shortage of options here, particularly gluten-free (and healthy/fresh) options. I’m NOT used to having this many safe places to eat out so I went restaurant crazy this week. Most places are grab-and-go/made-to-order because that’s more my style (aka I don’t have to get dressed up) but a couple are sit down fancier places that I’ve been to with my family, either this trip or prior.
I plan to update this list as I try new places!

Thanks, Gretchen! You too!
So many great places to try! Another one of my favorite smoothie places is liquiteria.

I walked by that place one day! Will stop in next time :)
This looks amazing! I need this for the next time I go into the city!! Being gluten and dairy free.. I know how challenging food intolerances can be! Looks like you found some great options!! :)

It’s really hard to travel with food intolerances. I’ve found that Boston, NYC and DC have a lot of options. I’m assuming the West coast does too.
Yay for trying new places! I love eating out at restaurants when I am in a new place or traveling, part of the fun for sure. It’s awesome that now cities have so many options for people who have certain dietary needs and it’s no longer like one boring option on a menu for someone who is gluten free/vegan/etc.

I walked into a restaurant that said “everything in the kitchen is gluten free” and I wanted to cry. Having options is really refreshing.
Awesome list! I remember when I went GF a couple years ago for a whole year (digestive probs), it was SO hard to find anything GF. Now, products and restaurants are popping up everywhere!! Those food photos are makin me drool.

Tampa is starting to have tons more options for GF. Miami, not so much.
This is a great list! I will have to keep these options in mind the next time I visit NYC :)

Thank you! And I hope to add to it :)
I’ve heard of Local Thyme and it looks pretty fab!

My dad, who is not GF, even approved it! Local Thyme has options for all dietary preferences.
Great post! You will definitely be able to explore so many new restaurants in NYC. They are actually endless. If you ever find yourself downtown towards NoHo, you’ll have to check out Two Hands… they have the best acai bowls and avocado toast! I like eating at home during the week, but on the weekends I prefer to explore and eat out! Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Thank you for that suggestion! I went down to NoHo one day but never ate down there. I’m looking forward to cooking and eating at home during the week…and so is my wallet haha.
I am so glad gluten-free foods are prevalent for you while out there in NYC! I could not imagine what i must be like to check in with each meal and ensure it is all up to code for your health needs. That takes dedication. Only a few more days before your internship begins! I hope it starts off well. :)

It honestly feels so freeing to have options for restaurants. And these options actually taste good! Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend :)
I hope the sun comes out for you this weekend. East coast weather has its moments. I typically eat most of my meals at home, but I want to get out more and eat out more, I just am usually so tired and I enjoy cooking my own meals, so that when I do go out it is a treat. I like it like that! :)

The sun FINALLY came out! Now it better stay that way :) I really enjoy cooking my own meals but my kitchen is so tiny here so I need to talk myself into getting in there.
I’m not gluten free, but I’m trying to get back to being healthy. I just relocated, so it’s been difficult to maintain fervor for nutrition. Thanks for sharing! I can’t wait to try these places. Mmm! :) Such a foodie.
All of these places had fresh and mostly organic options. Plus the food was delicious and flavorful. Let me know if you try any!
