How about a little survey for Monday? Like I said yesterday I plan to spend my free time with my family this week so posts will be more sporadic. Stealing this survey from Brie!
Making: salads from the Whole Foods hot bar for lunch. I technically do this all the time so it’s not just a “lately” thing.
Cooking: very minimally. My kitchen here is the size of a tiny closet so it’s not too inviting for cooking, especially this week because I’ll be spending most of my time with my family.
Drinking: smoothies. I’ve been on a smoothie kick this summer. My favorite combo lately is kale + spinach + banana + mango + coconut water.
Reading: Born to Run. I went to Barnes and Nobles to buy a book to read on the subway and decided on this running “classic.” I always hear people (bloggers) talking about it so I figured it was a good time to try it out. But I’m a few chapters in and it’s hard to get into…
Wanting: to plan my weekends in advance. There are so many things I want to do while I’m up north but with my job schedule I can’t plan more than a few days ahead of time.
Wasting: time on the subway by closing my eyes or reading (see above). No cell service is actually kind of nice.
Enjoying: sitting on the couch every day after work. Cliche young-adult statement but the simple things are the best.
Liking: Crunchy Barney Butter. I currently have 3 jars of almond butter and they are all crunchy not creamy. That is something I never thought I would say.
Wondering: what my work schedule will be next week. This seems to be a constant “wonder.”
Loving: this sign.
Needing: a massage. This is completely a “want” not a “need,” but still…
Wearing: sweatpants and a Miami sweatshirt. My go-to lazy outfit.
Noticing: that if I want to avoid crowds at Whole Foods I have to go right at 7 a.m. when it opens. Yes, I’m there at 7 a.m. It’s the perfect ending place for a run.
Knowing: how lucky I am to have this opportunity to work and live in the city.
Thinking: about my future. Too many deep thoughts that I don’t want to get into today. Maybe for Thinking Out Loud Thursday?
Feeling: tired. I come home exhausted every single day. This city can wear you down (in the best way possible).
I love Born to Run! I read it last year and it got me hooked on reading ultra books. I feel like a lot of books like that can take a while to get into, but that one was really good and I am so excited for the movie to come out!

I agree, a lot of books have a slow start but end up being fantastic. I forgot it was being made into a movie! More motivation to finish it soon.
I haven’t read Born To Run yet! I just finished reading “Schuyler’s Monster” for school, and started “If You Feel Too Much” by Jamie Tworkowski. I love summer because I have more time to read. I totally feel you about coming home exhausted every day! Between school, work, and running/workouts, I’m always dead at the end of the day.

At the beginning of the day I have the best intentions of doing something social and/or productive after work but all I want to do is go to sleep. I love reading books in the summer. Preferably on the beach :)
I love that sign. And I am not about cooking right now either…too hot and I even have a normal size kitchen. Have so much fun with your family!! Can’t wait to read about it :)
I want a copy of that sign for my bedroom. It’s perfect. I had a blast this week, thank you!

I practically live there!
Barney Butter…. I can’t get enough. I’m loving the vanilla and espresso bean flavor. The rate at which I finish the jar is somewhat concerning. And I am thinking a lot about summer and all the fun activities planned and how I feel like fall will be here before we know it!

I STILL haven’t found that flavor. I almost got the chia one but stuck to the original. How is the year already half way over?! I feel like the fall goes by faster too.
Born to Run is so good! Also I’m jealous of your Whole Foods trips. The one near me isn’t quite on the way to anywhere I’m usually heading.

I am taking serious advantage of living within a walking distance of Whole Foods this summer. There are tons in the city and luckily one is just around the corner from me.
No cell phone service ROCKS…Born to Run to ROCKS…And that smoothie ROCKS! :) Enjoy the time with your family!

You ROCK. I had a wonderful week with my family…miss them already!
I too have been thinking about mine & my famiy’s future. Wondering how long we’ll be here in Kuwait. Where we’ll be next. Joshua and I have been discussing adopting a little girl from a foreign country in more detail lately as well. It wouldn’t be happening for a good while, but it’s nice to start discussing.

Jessie, another little girl would be a wonderful addition to your family and she would be blessed with loving parents.
Always wanted to read Born to Run!!
And yay for Barney butter! That was the first almond butter I ever tried many moons ago! Classic ;)

I need to try one of the flavored Barney Butters. I’m obsessed! I’ll let you know how Born to Run is once I finish it :)
Oh my gosh! My brother was into running several years ago, and he got Born to Run, although I don’t remember if he finished it. He even thought about (maybe he did?) applying at a Born to Run store. When you mentioned it, it made me kind of nostalgic for those old days!
Life’s been pretty crazy, so I haven’t had much time for thinking or reading! ;P

It sounds like he got a lot out of the book! I’ve only heard incredible things so I’m excited to get into the meat of it.
I was a fellow 7am Whole Foods shopper! Whenever I went to happy hour after work on Friday, I always ended up in bed by 10pm. Therefore, I was ready to get my shopping on bright and early Saturday morning. There’s not one in my town now, but whenever I’m at my boyfriend’s dad’s house, I go for a “run” there to get a coffee :)

If I go any other time it’s a madhouse! I think it’s the perfect place to end a run because you can choose whatever you want to eat and drink.
My weeks have been so busy lately that I haven’t been reading much of anything besides blogs! Loving lately…living so close to so many fun friends and playing games/just hanging out at nights :)

I feel like I barely read any blog posts this past week so I’ll be playing catch-up :) It sounds like you’ve been having an awesome summer and I’m SO happy for you!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who hasn’t read Born to Run (because sometimes it feels that way!). I’m thinking about treating myself to a massage after my last marathon of the spring/summer season.

That smoothie looks sooo refreshing! Fun survey btw :)
Thanks! It has been my go-to all summer.
