Growing up is cool and all, but some days I don’t feel like “adulting.” It’s a word. If we’re being honest, lately, most days I don’t feel like adulting. I know very well that I’m not fully on my own yet and that my responsibilities don’t scream at me when they want food (i.e. kids), but you can’t deny the “valuable” life lessons you learn when you go to college/live on your own. Sometimes those valuable life lessons are simply learning to keep your head above water on a Monday of all Mondays. That would be yesterday, for me.
For instance, did you know how much money paper towels cost? I mean, the good kind (Bounty), of course. And toilet paper…did you know someone has to buy that for you? It’s always fun to run out and use tissue paper. Luckily I had some of that.
Other valuable lessons from yesterday…
-The medicine cabinet isn’t always stocked with Tylenol, Advil, Aleeve, Tums, Pepcid, Band-Aids, and your mom’s hugs. I had none of those yesterday.
-No matter what time of day, the post office is so busy. WHY?
-Don’t procrastinate getting gas. <10 miles is not good for stress.
-Apparently not everyone wants to watch Sports Center at the gym. I guess I’m in the minority there.
-Eating too much of any one food (even your favorite food) sometimes causes an unhappy stomach.
-The crockpot is a saving grace on days like this. Will post an update soon but, spoiler alert, I love it.
-Bugs don’t kill themselves.
-Whole Foods cures all. Particularly, their Kalicious smoothie (see above).
-Even better, a solid afternoon nap and delicious dinner can make you forget your rough Monday ever existed.
Haha I love that Whole Foods tweeted back to you! And I’ve actually been thinking about getting a slow cooker, so I’m curious to see how you’ve used yours and what you think!

I reccomend getting a slow cooker Liv! It is a huge time saver, plus whatever is cooking makes your house smell good all day long! :)

YES! Buy a slow cooker! It will change your life! I use mine 2-3 times a week.

LOVE IT. I wasn’t allowed to have one in the dorms but if you are, I would highly suggest it. Will post more soon!
It sucks doesn’t it!!! I think this is the point in life when you realize how awesome your parents are. I am really excited to hear about crockpot adventure. Have a better Tuesday

My parents are awesome. You don’t realize how much you take those little things for granted until you’re gone.
An afternoon nap on a Monday is just what I needed yesterday! I needed a quick nap followed by a big dinner just to keep me afloat between all the papers I have to write and readings to get read. It is days like those that we really do learn our most valuable life lessons!

I think naps should be mandatory on Mondays. But every day really.
Haha you’re Twitter famous!! I found that I had no idea how time consuming it was to actually go to the grocery store and then figure out what I wanted to eat for the whole week… that was my first “holy crap this is being an adult” memory. I am all about the naps lately. Nothing is a better pick me up than a quick power nap to recharge some batteries.

Plus if you don’t time it right, a trip to the grocery store takes like 10x longer than you’d expect. I’m always all about naps :)
Yesterday was such a struggle. I have no idea why. Totally almost ran out of gas on the way home from DC yesterday morning in a place where I didn’t want to be getting out of my car. So that was fun. Also forgetting to buy toilet paper and paper towels– YEP. I always forget. Always. Basically all that’s to say that I’m not a real adult.

Tuesday (now yesterday) wasn’t that much better. Rough start to the week. It’s totally not my personality to run out of gas/toilet paper but I guess that’s my relaxed side of Type A coming out.
Haha there have been times where we haven’t bought paper towel for SO long that we used dish towels as napkins. Sighhh. Hope the rest of your week gets better!

If I had enough dish towels I would use those for sure! Thank you!
After college I learned to completely swear by the crock pot. It saves time and makes getting dinner on the table so much easier!
Most valuable lesson lately? When Plan A doesn’t work out there are 25 more letters in the alphabet :)

I love that lesson and am adopting that mindset :)
The reason the PO is always is so busy, is because they are seriously so damn slow! It’s brutal. You have go in there and meditate…LOL! Happy Tuesday friend!

YES! My roommates and I were just talking about how rude the workers are too. I try to be nice and smiley every time but I leave angry.
I was basically the most lucky college student, my dad can send us unlimited toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, plastic forks/knifes/spoons, and garbage bags! The unpaid glory!

That is a huge bonus!!!! All that stuff adds up a lot.
Been there with the sudden realisation of no remaining rolls of toilet paper…definitely not a nice situation to be in!
Looking forward to your crock pot creations! xx

I bought as much as I could fit in my cabinet now so hopefully that’ll prevent future issues!
Aw girl sounds like a rough Monday! I hope things got better yesterday. I actually don’t know anything about Whole Foods. I hear it’s magical, and thankfully one is going up about a mile from my house! I hear the salad bar is delicious. Those are some great lessons. I would add don’t skip the bathroom when you think you’ll be home in 10 minutes. Somehow traffic always appears at those times!

Thanks, Heather <3 AH! I'm so happy for you that you're getting a Whole Foods! You will love it. The salad bar will come in handy on nights you don't feel like cooking.
