One year ago yesterday I had an awful headache. How the hell do I remember that? Because one year ago I spent the entire day starting at my computer screen setting up this blog. Awkward first post…yikes! That day I read so many articles about starting a blog that my eyes were scarred by my computer light, resulting in a bad headache.
But this isn’t the anniversary of my headache. It’s the anniversary of something I talked about starting for months but always put it off. It’s the anniversary of something that, for me, has been a place of creativity, venting, learning and growing. My Healthyish Life.
The big 0-1 has finally arrived. Wow, May is a bigger month than I anticipated. Honestly, I can’t believe it’s been an entire year. I’ve come so far but I am nowhere near where I want to be (but isn’t that the same with most things in life?). The people I’ve “met” (and will actually meet this summer!) and the things I’ve learned personally and professionally have surpassed my expectations.
I have a few blog-related topics I want to discuss in different posts (ex: what I’ve really learned so far, questions I still have, things I’m not good at, etc.). But today I want to reflect on what I’ve done, written and accomplished this past year.

Hello, I Have a Blog- the post when I finally told friends and extended family members about my blog. I still don’t bring it up in conversation but it’s nice to know there’s no “secret” anymore.
New York City Marathon– this entire weekend was a dream. From exploring the city with my dad, to meeting Today Show hosts with my friend, to the food (take me back to Hu Kitchen!), it was everything I could have wanted. Yes, it would have been nice for less wind and warmer weather but just having the opportunity to run this race is something I’ll never take for granted. I definitely didn’t run my best or come anywhere close to my first marathon time, but I accomplished my only goal of “taking it all in.” I’ll be back! (I guess this counts as 3 posts, but whatever)
Guest Post: My First Half Marathon– I didn’t write this post but it was one of my favorites published. It was written by my sister, a “non-runner” (her words), after running her first half marathon in February. She rocks and I’m so proud of her!
Doing What Scares You– when I wrote this I was debating whether or not to apply for a summer job in New York or Tampa. I chose the scarier option, New York, and months later I’m so glad I did it. Living in the city is still a scary idea but I’m proud of myself for leaving my comfort zone. Here’s the follow-up post!
College-related posts (here and here)– to say I’ve come a long way in my college journey is an understatement. My freshman year was a blur of tears and stress. I hated everything about college and didn’t think I would ever adjust. Well, turns out not only have I adjusted but I’ve taken advantage of opportunities and started building a life for myself.
Here’s to more years of writing, ranting, running, eating and growing. Thanks for all the support this year!
