Another Disney race, another recap. Deja vu to last month. Let’s just say that I’m very happy this race is done.
I finished in 1:54:12. For my complete lack of training I’m very content with this time. I was thinking I’d be between 1:55 and 2 hours so I wasn’t too far off. Could have been faster if not for my bathroom stop, but that was necessary.
To save you from the boring course details and logistics check out my post from last month’s race here. The course is the same down to every last turn.
The weekend was marvelous. While I was dreading it for the running aspect (not normal for me, but I was unprepared), I was really looking forward to seeing my cousins. I have 12 girl cousins on my mom’s side and we are all really close. Five of them and their moms, my aunts, flew down to Orlando for the race and a girl’s weekend. I really think they just wanted to escape the northeast. With my mom, my sister and me it totaled to 11 girls.
A few important things to note about this race:
-My costume. Last year I just wore a tutu and tiara, but this time I stepped it up. My sister and I dressed as Elsa and Anna from Frozen. It’s kind of crazy how much we are like the characters (I’m Elsa, she’s Anna). Basically the color blue threw up on me, minus my pink sneakers.

At the Expo. Would have been fun to run that 5k, too!
-It was my sister’s FIRST half marathon!!!! She ran/walked it with my mom. I’m so incredibly proud of her. This was not something she wanted to do but she put in the work during training.
-My knee did not hurt one bit. I ran in compression socks for the first time ever (a big race day no-no) but I think it helped. I’m still going to go to PT and take it easy.
-The BEST part of the day…getting to see this guy. My dad surprised us and drove over yesterday morning and brought Rocco. Needless to say, I was happy.
This was the second year in a row we did a Princess Half Marathon girl’s weekend. I hope we can recruit the other girl cousins for next year because, honestly, that’s probably the only way I’ll fork over the money again #truth. But I sure can’t pass up a weekend with my favorite people.
More on my running “plans” soon…
Linking up to MIMM. Thanks, Katie!
How many cousins do you have? 18 on one side, 5 on the other.
Favorite post race/workout snack? Wednesday I’m sharing my post-race meals.
You have such a big family! I do not, haha! I have 3 baby boy cousins and that’s it! I’m the only girl! Wooo!
Congrats to you sister! What a rock star! And congrats to you my friend! Wish I was down there with everyone! I was so jealous scrolling through instagram that morning seeing everyone get ready!

Thank you so much! Yeah having a big family can be chaotic at times but I love it.
So glad you have fun! I love the Disney Princess race!!!!!

The Princess race is really fun and easy-going! Everyone is so supportive.
Awesome job! I’m glad to hear your knee didn’t hurt! Compression socks are the best – I basically live in mine. I can’t wait to hear more about your running plans :)
I have 5 girl cousins. I was really close with one of them growing up.

Thanks so much, Sam! I want to permanently live in my compression socks :)
SO COOL that you did this race with your family! AHhh I would love that. And congrats to your sister for completing her first half! I wish I could do as many disney races as you do- sadly, it’s not the most convenient but one of these years I’ll make it happen. I hate that you were dreading the run but it seems like it ended up being a pretty good weekend for you :)

It was so special to do the race with my family. I hope we can continue this tradition! Disney is great the first one or two times but it burns a hole in my wallet. If I didn’t live so close it wouldn’t be on my radar as much.
This looked like fun! Glad you had a great race!

Thanks, Lauren! It was a blast.
Love that you can just pick up and run a half. ;) It seems like a fun race with low pressure if you hadn’t been super well-trained. So glad you had a lovely weekend! xo

It’s such a pressure free race and inviting for all skill levels! I don’t think I’ll be running any more halfs untrained for a while. My calves are feeling it!
It looks like you had such a fun weekend! I would love to do a girl’s weekend like that with my cousins but we all vary so much in age and location it would be tough to make it all work. One day I am going to make it down there for a Disney race!

We all live really far apart so it was nice to get everyone together for something other than a holiday. I’m in the middle of the age bracket so half are older, half are younger. Definitely come to Disney for a race :)
SO fun that you all made it a girls/cousins weekend! And sounds like you did an awesome job, especially for not being 100% ready. My favorite post workout snack is smoothie or Greek yogurt– superrrrr original right? ;)

Thanks, Liv! Don’t worry I’m the poster child for unoriginal snacks. Banana and peanut butter is the classic haha
Congrats on a great race! That’s an awesome time. I sleep in my compression socks every night and wear them around after long runs. They make a huge difference in how my legs feel. I only have cousins on my dad’s side, and I’m not close with any of them. That’s awesome you have so many and can do fun weekends together like that!

Thanks, Rebecca! I agree, compression socks make a huge difference in my recovery. I love sleeping in them too!
Congrats! That was my first half marathon ever and it was fun, but definitely so expensive!
