Back to reality today. My family flew back to Florida last night after an awesome week up north. We saw both sides of the family with a week of city-adventures sandwiched in between. Well, they went on the adventures while I worked. I should have written a blog post titled “Things My Family Did in NYC While I Was Working.” I got back from a quick trip to Rhode Island last night and have a few highlights to share.
Let’s recap the marvelous weekend…sentence per picture style.
Even on a grey day, Newport is beautiful.
This sign is my life.
This SHIRT is my life (*with ‘eat’ inserted in there).
A new sweatshirt for me and Del’s for her.
Just working on my crow (it’s been a while) in front of a Newport Mansion.
I single-handedly devoured this.
I met (and almost stole) my cousins’ two-day-old puppy.
Other weekend highlights include seeing Inside Out (It was cute but I fell asleep half-way through. That’s what happens when I go to a movie that starts at 9:45), spending lots of time with extended family, napping (always a highlight) and good food.
Now for a short-week (Fourth of July!), grocery shopping and lots of laundry. Oh…HOW is it almost July?!
I’ve never been to Rhode Island but it looks beautiful! That shirt is so cute (and the puppy too, of course)!
The highlight of my weekend was cliff jumping with some friends! It was crazy and I got the best adrenaline rush. I’m going to Maryland this week and can’t wait to be in Washington, DC for the fireworks on the 4th!

Ah part of me wants to go cliff jumping (off a small cliff) but I’m such a scardy cat. D.C. seems like the best place to be for the 4th!
I love Newport – it’s absolutely beautiful up there! The highlight of my weekend was some laid-back catch-up time at a family reunion. And I don’t have huge plans for the Fourth… probably a cook out and keeping my dog calm since she’s not really a fan of fireworks ;)

My dog hates fireworks too! It makes me sad to see him so scared. Cookout on the fourth sounds right up my alley. I’ll bring the watermelon ;)
Rhode Island looks so beautiful! I love that crow pose picture! I am lucky if I can manage to take a picture doing crow pose– I usually last half a second holding that pose! YAY for a short week, let’s hope it goes by quickly!

I’m surprised I stayed as long as I did considering I haven’t practiced in weeks! One day down, 3 to go :)
I think I need to put Newport on my bucket list of places to visit. It looks absolutely gorgeous! Glad y’all had a fab time. Love the new sweatshirt too. It looks quite comfortable.
It is such a quaint but lively town (if that makes sense). So much to do!
Ran a half this weekend which was nice getting a long run back into my weekend routine. I like downward dog… totally not a yogi, but I like the hamstring stretch I get. And paranoid pigeon… based on the name alone : ) I’ll be heading up to Nantucket Thursday morning for the weekend! Can’t wait! Hope you have a fabulous day!!

Wait please explain paranoid pigeon to me! I couldn’t find it online. Pigeon is one of my favorites. Nantucket for the 4th sounds PERFECT.

Best stretch after long runs in my book!

In Canada we’re celebrating July 1st so we get Wednesday off work which is a huge bonus!

No, I’m sorry to hear that. But YAY for a day off…hopefully the weather will make up for it!
OMG YESSSSS. You’re making me miss that place more than anything slash I’m so excited to go visit in a few weeks (AND FINALLY MEET YOU!!!!!!!)
p.s. hope you won’t be offended when I buy the exact same sweatshirt as you. Not even the least bit sorry. I’ve been looking for a new quarter zip and I’ve decided that’s the one I want.

SO MUCH EXCITEMENT! I was on a hunt for a sweatshirt because a) it was cold and b) I wanted one. I don’t remember the exact store but it was near the Clarke Cooke House. It’s so comfy :)
Hahaha I love that sign. And GIRL. That puppy <3. Only two days old? That's crazy!

It gave me puppy fever. Hopefully my parents felt the same and now want to get another dog haha
I love Newport!!! The mansions are so beautiful and the city itself is wonderful. I especially love that picture of you doing yoga in front of one of the mansions, perfect :)
I just realized that I 100% could have done the pose on the grass but doing it on the bench added some fun :) Newport is such a beautiful place in the summer.
love all of the pictures! awesome post :)

Thank you! It was a great weekend :)
This weekend my husband and I went on a hike and we planked across fallen logs! It was awesome and hilarious. (https://instagram.com/p/4fX_65HSjc/?taken-by=fitmittenkitchen)

What a great idea to add in some plank variations ;) I would do the same. Hope you have a great (and short) work week!
So fun!!! What a wonderful little getaway <3
Favorite pose…I have so many, but 8-Angle always holds a special place!

I was so happy the day I landed that one! Haven’t done is much since but it’s a great pose.
I love frog pose these days…It hurts so good and it is soothing, but challenging. It brings up a lot of stuff, but it is all good. I am embracing it…the good and the not so pretty! ;)

I haven’t done frog pose in a while and you’re right- it does bring up a lot of stuff. My hips are always tight so that’s a good one.
I’m bummed the Newport Marathon didn’t work out for us this year – it looks so beautiful there! We always go to the hometown parade and have brunch with family friends on the 4th. It’s a very fun and low-key to celebrate.

It is SO gorgeous and would be an amazing place to run a marathon. Low-key celebrations are my favorite. I used to go to a parade every year when I lived in New Jersey.
