How is the first day of fall and the end of Mercury Retrograde treating you? Hopefully good vibes all around. For those of you stuck on the term “Mercury Retrograde” read this article.
Going back to blogging basics today with some classic Thinking Out Loud. Get ready for some randomness…
1. So remember when I used to blog about running?! Yeah, me either. Well, after two months of virtually no exercise, I’m making my way back. I did run/walk intervals for two weeks and as of Monday, I’m up to one mile straight of running. It’s a very slow return, literally speed is at the bottom of the totem pole, but I can’t describe how good it felt for that one mile. I cried out of joy, if that tells you anything.
But now, I’m stuck in the land of DOMS because everything hurts (just in out of shape way). I will hopefully progress in distance but am still very cautious for the time being. Yay for mini-wins.
2. Fall means football. Football is life. So fall is life? My Eagles are 2-0 so far (and now I probably just jinxed it) but I’m going to embrace a winning record for once. Once thing I CANNOT embrace is the new Sunday Night Football song. It wasn’t broke so it didn’t need fixing…
3. iPhone users: have you updated your phones?! The new look/features took me by surprise (I’m obviously not great with change). I mostly love it, minus the weird-looking emojis. One complaints: they’re still missing the avocado, but at least we have like 18 different emojis for a train…
4. My current favorite snack: stuffed sweet potatoes. Stuff with granola and drizzle (or cover) with almond butter. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
5. Is it just me, or is this not the most relatable thing you’ve ever read?

6. I had a weird turn of events recently but am choosing to make the most of a new opportunity. Vague blogging I know, but another reminder to look on the bright side. I’ll share more soon.
7. If all goes well, I’ll have a post up tomorrow explaining a new little series on the blog! If all doesn’t go well it’ll be up Monday. As I’ve mentioned before, I want to strike a better balance with these chatty posts and more structured content so now it’s time to put it into action.
That tweet is SO true! My car window is always wet in the morning so I have to use the wipers to get the water off and I am always self-conscious about it when another car goes by because I am sure they think I am some crazy lady with her windshield wipers going off when it is not even raining out. haha the struggles. And YAY for getting back to running! So happy for you :)

I felt so relieved when I saw that tweet because I never realized other people felt that way! So funny.
So happy you are back to running! Just so, so happy!

Baby steps, but celebrating small wins :)
Can’t believe that avocado emoji has still yet to appear! What is taking them so long? Also I have been obsessed with stuffed sweet potatoes of every form, they are just so good!

I was so mad! I would use that emoji more than anything else (expect maybe for the eye roll one haha).
The last time I took time off running it was about a 10 year break. Oops! I eased into it slowly but that was when I discovered that I really loved to run. I ran a half marathon after 9 months. I’m about two weeks from being cleared after 10 months off. I’m nervous but counting the days until I can run again. Congrats on getting back into it!

I’m excited for you too! I’m really taking baby steps (many days off in between) but the passion is coming back stronger.
After taking time off from running because of an injury, I’ve always come back with a renewed love for it, feeling refreshed! Hope the same will be true for you when you’re able to fully come back :) Current favorite snack…peanut butter cookie Larabars! They’re SO good.
The love of running feels stronger than ever. I appreciate it so much more! Hope you have a great weekend!
Sorry, but we can’t be friends this week. My Steelers are playing your Eagles, and one of us is going to get our first loss of the season. It’s going to be rough!
I got to see iOS10 early for work, and I really like it! There are so many little things they did to make it more usable and the user experience is way better in my opinion. Plus the fact that developers can integrate in iMessage and Siri is pretty awesome!! I actually love how the emojis look now, but I agree that the avocado missing is a HUGE problem.

Haha ;) Honestly, I’ll be VERY surprised if the Eagles win this week. The Steelers are the first real test for us!
One (small) thing I quickly noticed about the update is that when you type a message, it suggests emojis now, not just text. I started typing “potato” and the potato emoji came up. It’s so smart.
OMG I’m always so self conscious of my wiper speed too. So glad I’m not the only one. Progressing to long distance definitely takes some time, but it can be so rewarding when you do something you couldn’t a week ago.
Exactly! Celebrating the mini-wins along the comeback journey.
That sweet potato looks fantastic. I’m glad you are able to get back to running, too! :) My current favorite snack is PB currant energy bites. So quick and easy to make, and so delicious!

Energy bites are always a go-to snack. So fun and easy to make!
I can’t wait to read about your new series, and I was thankful to see that you were able to go on a run this week. Yay for little steps; they are a huge blessing. :) It really makes you appreciate those little runs more.
And that stuffed sweet potato; now a sweet potato sounds really really good.

I’m so appreciative of the min-wins. I’m all for celebrating progress of any size!
I did not know the new iphone update was so serious! I’m not gonna lie, I did it for the runner girl emoji and then was like omg what did I just do?! I feel like I’m learning how to use my phone for the first time! And I am with you on trying to get back into running. Running is not so enjoyable in the beginning but hoping fall temps will help me get there!

Sometimes the updates aren’t that dramatic, but this one was! Still so many features I don’t understand. I hope the fall temps bring lots of miles for you :)
Your Eagles look AWESOME- I don’t think they’re going to be slowing down anytime soon and OMGGGGGGGG I cringe every single time I hear the new Sunday night football song. I cant stand it!

Ah fellow football fan..yay! I think I’ll just sing my own version (aka the old version) of the Sunday Night Football song every week. This week will be the first real test for the Eagles, so I don’t know what to expect!
That is great running feels so good! The stuffed sweet potato looks delicious. I love putting nut butter on top.
It’s the perfect complement!
I’m in the middle of a get-back-into-running streak right now. I’ve had a few long streaks where I don’t run much, and I’m always surprised at how painful it is at first (could not believe how sore I was after a 2 mile run a few weeks ago!) but it always seems like you struggle, struggle, struggle, and then all of a sudden make crazy fast progress. I am sure you’ll get back there! And it’s wonderful that you’re loving it where you are now :)
You describe it perfectly! It’s definitely a struggle (and I’m fearful of re-injury) but I’ll get back there. Thanks for the encouragement :) I hope you have a great weekend!
The sweet potato obsession is the BEST! Have you tried Michele’s Granola…it is so good and would be perfect topped on that bad boy…And YES I am so happy that Mercury Retrograde is over. I totally believe in that stuff and it makes my life VERY kookie! XOXO

No I haven’t tried that brand! I think I believe in it too. I saw a funny quote on Instagram that said “Mercury Retrograde is over. So now everything that happens is your fault.” I laughed at that one ;)
Eagles fan!? ….well you know what I think about that! #Jets!
Must load my tatoes up with some more great carbs! Granola! Great idea!

I’ve eaten that as a snack almost every day for the past week. Addicting!
YES YES YES YES YES for your mile!! :) So happy for you :)
Snack of choice at the moment has to be figs as they have just come into season and I can totally relate to the windscreen wiper situation…
Your opportunity sounds exiting too and I hope it goes well for you!
xx
I wish I could find figs more regularly! I get so excited when I see them at the store. Hope you have a great weekend :)
Yay for making a return to running! Whenever I take time off I am always humbled by the difficulty of running for the first week or two. After that I feel pretty good and am back in the swing of things! Hope your running continues to go well!

Yes, it’s very much a humbling process. Many days off in between and some fearful thoughts (of re-injury) but I’m making my way back.
Yayyyy running!! I’m so glad you are back to it. Who cares about speed- you’re running! I took time off when I was pregnant but then got back at it and started a mile at a time. Slowly my speed came back without even doing too much about it! I can’t wait to hear about your new series (at least I don’t think I missed it?). Have a wonderful day!

Thank you so much, Heather! I’m glad too. It’s not a linear return (lots of days off in-between) but it’s a start. Didn’t finalize the post yet so it’ll be up Monday ;)
The windscreen wiper thing is so great :P You know what other emoji I’m missing is a fingers crossed one. I always seem to need it and it just isn’t there!
YES! You’re right, that would be a good one to have!
My current favorite snack is watermelon! I’m trying to stock up on all of them before they’re all gone at the market :)
