Last week was a doozy. Along with being sick, it was one of those, let’s suddenly panic over every aspect of life weeks. Professional, personal, physical, financial, you name it. It led to me nose deep in articles about saving for retirement and investing, although I eventually ended up on Pinterest in search of a headboard. Because if I can’t start investing at 9 p.m. on a Tuesday night, then I might as well pick out a headboard. I didn’t sleep much that night.
But I have been sleeping really well in my new bed and new sheets. My Valentine’s Day gift from my mom was a set of sheets, and while I was slightly offended for the very practical, adult-like gift, I’m glad she thinks about these things. Here’s a peek of my room in-the-making. Along with a headboard, I’m also looking to add a pop of color with bedding/pillows and then maybe a piece of art for above. Or art for a different section of the room.

Note to self: it’s probably time to get rid of the monogrammed pillow from your freshman dorm.
Some other recent happenings:
I’ve spent a few weekends at the new hotel. I wish I could invite everyone to come hang out there because the atmosphere brings a child-like WE’RE ON VACATION spirit.
The day I read about Amazon offering 5% cash back at Whole Foods for Amazon Prime credit card users, I applied. I’m hopeful this will benefit me in the long-run, considering my relationship with both WF and Amazon.
I’ve made a conscious effort over the last year or two to use more natural beauty products. However, I have no tolerance for natural products that don’t work well and cost a lot of money. I love most Beauty Counter products but have also purchased from Credo Beauty and the Detox Market. A few weeks ago I did Detox Market’s “little bag of samples” and got four samples of different products for $8 + shipping. Each sample has enough for two uses, which is less than ideal but better than nothing.
Rocco turned 10 last month. I can’t believe I didn’t have a dog for the first 13 years of my life because not having one now is unimaginable. He’s the cutest pup and loves opening presents. It was fun to celebrate with him.
Speaking of dogs, I get woken up almost every morning by Archie. He cuddles and makes it hard to leave the bed.
I promised a little fitness update. Exercise has arguably been the most healthyISH aspect of my life. Meaning, it COULD be a lot better/more effective, but I’m doing what I can and what feels good. “What I can” looks like 4x a week for ~45 minutes, and the occasional evening walk. “What feels good” is usually circuit style strength training followed by stretching. 10k steps just doesn’t happen. More days than not that number is in the 2’s or 3’s.
There are random moments when I feel like I have my shit together. For example, last Friday I banged out a really good morning workout and then went on a 30-minute walk after work. Movement twice in one day!!! Other days, I wander around the gym and leave wondering if I really did anything. Then after work, I sit on the couch at night…after sitting all day. Cutting myself some slack here—I’ll never have it all together. And I don’t need to.

New walking views
I am ready to (slowly) start running after a very long mental and physical break. I’m also ready to re-join the group fitness world. My current gym membership is free (hard to beat) but I hope to expand that to some group ex classes, including yoga. My friend and I went to a class over the weekend and it felt so good.
Well this post is stocked full of randomness. Check back later this week for the start of a fun food partnership!
What is your fitness routine lately? Any favorite circuits or classes?
What do you do when you have a “worry about everything” week?
Lately, I have been finding a lot of comfort, sweat, and strength on my yoga mat. I am signed up for 4 classes this week. I can’t wait. And when it comes to worrying about life, I try to take a lot of deep breaths and take Lucy for a long walk with no phone or music. It allows me to just BE.
You go girl. I find such a comfort there too. It’s a different comfort from being in my running sneakers but both are good.
Did you move to another hotel? I thought you moved to a house but I must’ve read wrong, ha. I read blogs quickly, lol. Anyway, I love the flexibility you’re giving yourself with workouts :) Hope you have a great week!
Hi friend! I totally should have clarified that more because reading it back it sounds like that haha. No! I live in a regular non-hotel house now :) My dad works at a different hotel now so I’ve gone to visit him there.
