When I become Queen of the World one of the first things I’m implementing, aside from making the day after the Super Bowl a holiday, is mandatory adult spring break. You could stay in your pajamas at home for a week for all I care (although I suggest going some place with sun), but a week in March is needed to reboot.
Even during my funemployment I need a change of scenery. No I don’t technically deserve a break (my couch is sure going to miss me) but in this stage of my life I’m feeling very grateful for the ability to up and leave for a week. I’ve been looking forward to this California trip for months and hopefully as you read this I’m taking full advantage of my time there!
Whether you get a formal spring break or not, I hope you can set aside some time for a vacation OR staycation.
I’ve been testing out this playlist for a week or so and now it’s ready to share. The focus of the ride: HILLS, with some speed for good measure. As always, you want to maintain a comfortably uncomfortable pace and resistance. If you end up leaning side to side to push through the resistance, it’s too heavy.
Suggested Ride:
- Feelings- Warm-Up
- Should’ve Been Us– Moderate hill in 2
- Hot Mess– Jumps on the chorus
- Brick By Boring Brick– Moderate hill, alternating seated and out in 3
- Ain’t Got Far To Go– Heavy hill in 3
- One Woman Army- Moderate hill
- Be Right There– Jog in 2 OR active recovery
- Rock Bottom– Seated moderate hill, out to 3 on chorus
- Blackout- Heavy hill in 3
- How To Be A Heartbreaker– Sprints on the chorus
- Candyman- Moderate hill in 3
- Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself– Heavy hill in 3
- Somewhere to Run- Sprints
- *Playlist does not include cool down song, but don’t forget to take time to cool down yourself*

I love how you put a workout to your playlist! I don’t listen to music while I exercise although it sounds really fun to do while cycling! I hope you’re having an absolutely blast right now!

I can do every other workout without music but not spinning. Definitely need some distraction there!
I will have to complete this workout this weekend. My schedule has been crazy so I haven’t made it to my favorite spin class for the past few weeks. :( Jess at Just Jess
Let me know if you do!
I can definitely see listening to some of these during the NYC Half. I’ve started doing runs without music, all the way for short ones and until I get bored on long ones, then going to the pump up tunes to finish strong :)

That is awesome mental training! Turn on the music always gives me the extra power, too.
Yes I will sign up for that spring break! Haha. Dan is in grad school so we usually take a trip between his spring and summer semesters. This year that’s when we’re getting married so I consider that my spring break as well!

Probably the most memorable spring break you’ll take ;)
Yay I love your spin workouts!! My dream Spring Break came true last year when I went to Australia. I’m headed to Aruba in a few weeks, so thats not bad either!
Australia sounds incredible! Aruba isn’t too shabby either. I went there for spring break in middle school and we loved it! Went snorkeling, banana-boating and lots of pool time.
Hope you’re having a blast in California! I haven’t been to a spin class in forever. My gym has classes but for some reason I always just would rather run or do something else besides spin lately haha. If I could go anywhere for a spring break right now it would be Australia for sure. Make that spring break into like a month off and I’ll be good :) Haha.

I understand that, especially as the weather gets nice I like to do all of my workouts outside. I’m with you, who limited this spring break thing to one week?!
well my dream spring break would last like a month and be something crazy like going to australia. always always it would end at a beach doing NOTHING. the first time i ever went on spring break i was like 27 and my boyfriend and i went on vacation in march and didnt even realize it was “spring break”. i had friends here and there that went but i never had the $ and wasnt a huge drinker in college. i was the geek who would rather sleep in and get extra hours at work for extra $. it is something i sorta regret though that i didnt do when i was younger. so do it !
That sounds like heaven. I’ll take a month on the beach doing nothing, too!
Yay for fun workout playlists! Whilst I used to only ever listen to music whilst working out, I have to admit that now whenever I’m on the bike I’m watching the news :P

I alternate between news and music when I’m in the gym too. Depending if it’s a busy news day!
This is awesome! I decided not to join the gym this semester so I’ve missed my friday spin classes. Really cool idea to create your own. Also I vote you for Queen of the World!
