Hello there. Since I’m making my way back home today/tonight I figured it was a good day for some surveys. I was recently tagged in three surveys and, because I’m a survey-junkie, I’m very happily answering them all. Well, I’m taking a few questions from each so I don’t bore you with my life story.
Rebecca tagged me in the Versatile Blogger Survey, Liv in the Four Things Survey and Jamie awarded me the “Real Neat Blog” award. Shucks….making me blush ;) Would love for you to answer some questions in the comments!
Versatile Blogger Survey
1. What is something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I love U.S. history and have known all the presidents and state capitals since I was 2 years old. Oh, and I collect state quarters. Cool kid right here.
2. What is your favorite distance to run?
Favorite race distance: Half marathon
Favorite regular run distance: 5-6 miles.
3. What is your dream race/event?
Is Boston too cliché? Running NYC was pretty much a dream though. But I would also say any destination race on the California coast. I’m in the mood for a race-cation.
Four Things Survey (I feel like I’ve done this before but I can’t find it in my archives)
Four of my favorite foods:
1. Watermelon
2. Sweet potatoes
3. Nut butter (I’m not picky which nut)
4. Avocado
Four things I prefer not to eat:
1. Mashed potatoes
2. Applesauce
3. Onions
4. Gluten. Kidding (but really…). Sardines.
Four places I’d rather be right now
1. Somewhere sunny and 75
2. Tampa with my family
3. Running on Bayshore
4. Sitting on this beach
Can you tell I miss Florida? SO SOON!
Real Neat Blog Award
1. What has been your biggest success and your biggest challenge?
Deep question, Jamie. And for that I’m going to steal modify your answer.
Success: Managing to live well on my own. My freshman year of college was rough and it felt like I would never adjust to life away from home and the people and places I loved. Well, it was possible and I’m doing pretty well. I like the sense of independence and figuring things out for myself. While I don’t love change, I’m more confident in my ability to handle it than I was three years ago.
Challenge: To go off the above…change is still hard but my biggest challenge is probably seeing the positive in situations.
2. What does your perfect day look like? (April 25th is void… ;))
That’s seriously my go-to answer for this question. Regardless, it would include: a good, longish run, a post-run nap, home cooked meals for every meal, yoga, a massage, time in the sun (probably napping again), time with family and/or friends, and playing Jeopardy with my family. Oh and winning the lottery. That would be nice.
3. What is your favorite memory?
I’m going to generalize this and combine a bunch of different memories into one: watching Eagles games (every week) with my dad. Football Sundays were the best growing up. Well, they still are the best (how many more days?), but even more fun at home. From screaming and jumping to the swearing and crying, it’s never a dull moment during Eagles games.
Ok, now you know a little lot more about me :)
Congratulations on all the award nominations. Those ladies were so sweet to pick you. But then again, can anyone blame them? You’re awesome! It was fun getting to know you. I love that your a huge history buff. I used to collect quarters a while back, but since moving to Kuwait it’s obviously not as easy. Ha!
I’d rather not eat: sauerkraut, avocado (yuck!), or lobster.

You are the sweetest, thank you. Haha yeah collecting state quarters seems impossible in Kuwait ;) Send me your avocados and I will gladly eat them!
A perfect day must for me is a sunny day! I function SO much better when the sun is out and shining!
Brie @ Lean, Clean, & Brie recently posted…10…9…8…Full Body Workout
Agreed! That’s the basis for a happy day.
A perfect day…hm. A day spent with family, eating (of course), laughing, maybe the beach, and some sunny weather :) and winning the lottery would be nice, too

Can I join in on your perfect day?!
So excited for you getting to go home!!! My perfect day- being in Rhode Island with the fam. Walking with my mom (or a solo long run), paddleboarding, frozen hot chocolate, ice cream, a home-cooked meal up on deck, and watching the lights on the bridge. Oh man I miss the boatlife more than normal today apparently haha

Your perfect day sounds just like your vacation two weeks ago :) Glad you got a lot of them and hopefully more soon!
I collected the state quarters, too! I had a nice map where you could pop in the quarters, and if I remember correctly, I believe I got all 50 of them. I had totally forgotten about state quarters until I saw one a couple of weeks ago. Finding new state quarters was so exciting when I was a kid.

YES! I have that map! I was more into it when I was younger but they still catch my eye.
Woooo can’t believe you’re heading home today! I feel like you just got to NYC!! Hope you have a safe trip :) And you’ll be back on the beach in no time (envious…)

I’m on the couch this very moment :)
Sardines! You need to change that ;) I dare you to mash them up IN mashed potatoes, hahahahahaha ;)
And I’m jealous you know all the presidents and capitols! I’ve never even tried….hahahaha!

That sounds like a (literal) recipe for disaster haha. My mom taught them to me when I was really little and they’ve stuck with me since then!
Yay for surveys! I love doing them and always steal the questions from other bloggers :) I liked getting to know you a bit better and your answers are great!
I’m such a sucker for surveys. I think we all love doing them and reading them.
Perfect day MUST is a long day at the beach with a really good sandwich and chips…book…my pup…and never ending dips into the water. I too will not eat sardines. I cannot stand them and maybe the only food I will truly not eat. LOL! Love your history knowledge! :)

I love your perfect day :) There are many foods I don’t like but sardines comes pretty close to the top.
You should plan to do the San Diego Half Marathon, and I extend my apartment to you so you have free housing and transportation AND a fan. :)

Now I’m googling that race. I do want to visit California soon!
Call me crazy but I actually like sardines and could eat them plain :P! I prefer not to eat cooked fruit (as in pies) and my perfect day would feature a ton of reading, a nice hike, and lots of delicious sushi!

I don’t like cooked fruits either, but I never though of that. Oh now I need to add sushi to my perfect day!
I honestly really enjoy sardines but never thought I would! My kids also dislike mashed potatoes, I thought they were the only ones!
Michele @ paleorunningmomma recently posted…Kiqplan App Review – 10k Run Ready
I think the smell of sardines gets me more than the taste. I’ve never liked mashed potatoes (but I love all roasted potatoes) because of the texture. Too mushy.
Mashed potatoes are also a no no for me! It must be the texture, but I’ve never been a fan. And mayo….ugh just the thought of it makes me feel queasy.
sarah recently posted…Unconditional Love
Yes, the texture ruins it! I’ll take potatoes roasted, baked, boiled, whatever.
HAHA a perfect day must could definitely be winning the lottery for me…too bad I never buy tickets ;) I’d definitely include a nice, cool long run and a post-run nap since I rarely nap! That sounds amazing :)
Liv @ Healthy Liv recently posted…Exercising on Vacation- Yay or Nay?
I never buy tickets either, so I have no reason to complain that I don’t win ;)
Your perfect day sounds lovely! I’m not a mashed potato lover, either. I like potatoes a bunch of other ways (especially roasted), but mashed potatoes are too mushy for me, as is stuffing. Other than that, I don’t like olives but am pretty much otherwise un-picky. :)
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday recently posted…5 Things to Stop Apologizing For
Stuffing is a no-go for me too. The mushy texture makes it taste like baby food I think.
I collected state quarters too! Now I am working on the National Park quarters, just when you thought it couldn’t get any nerdier. I think my perfect day would involve a run in perfect fall weather and watching an MSU football game (that they win, obviously). And probably having someone clean my house for me.
Rebecca @ MyEagerFeet recently posted…Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon: Week 0
Wait I need to find out more about National Park quarters because I might be onto that too. Oh I should have added football to my perfect day! Good call.
Florida is one of my favorite places to go! As for top four favorite foods, I would have to say 1. ice cream 2. english muffins 3. nut butter 4. cauliflower. It’s an odd list but they are my fav!
Alison @ Sweetly Petite recently posted…Banana Bread Granola
You hit almost every food group with those choices so I’d say it’s a good list :)
