Sometimes the silliest littlest things make my day. Not getting stuck in traffic, making it inside before a downpour of rain, wearing matching workout clothes for once, etc. In a time of transition I can use all the mood-boosters I can get.
In the spirit of looking at the kombucha bottle half full (see what I did there?) here are some little things that have put a smile on my face this week.
Five for $5 avocados
Lighting a candle and reading a book at night
Having friends in all of my classes this semester
The last of the juicy summer watermelons
Finding my keys when I thought they were lost stolen by my sister (thanks, St. Anthony!)
Finally trying the new Justin’s snack packs
FaceTiming with my sister
Putting my Hunter rain boots to good use. The only plus to a torrential rainstorm!
Napping during said rainstorms
Feeling strong during a hot and humid run. Those are far and few lately so this was a double bonus.
This song. I’m still not sick of it even though that car commercial is way overplayed
Making plans with friends to go to the beach (*hurricane depending)
That blissful feeling of getting into bed after a long day and taking a deep sigh of accomplishment. Anyone else do that?
When people I love are happy
Say an extra prayer for the victims and families of the TV reporting shooting yesterday and appreciate all the blessings (big and small) in your life.
*Linking up to Thinking Out Loud. Thanks as always, Amanda!*
lol! my mom and grandma always tell me to pray to St. Anthony when I lose something :D love this post – we all need to take a second to be grateful for the little things!

That was last Saturday and I’m still in shock. St. Anthony did me proud!!!
I can totally relate. I love this post. Being with my friends and family, playing the piano, reading a book and painting made me smile this week.
Thanks, Liisi! Sometimes the most simple activities and things are where we can find some joy.
How are the Justin’s snack packs?? I have been wanting to try them out and think they would be perfect to throw in my backpack on a busy day of class.
Also, five for five avocados?! I sure hope you stocked up on those! I love deals on avocados like that! (Is it sad I get so excited for a good deal on an avocado? haha)

The snack packs would be perfect for a full day of class! I loved them but I love all their nut butters :)
This is such a great post in light of the tragedy. Dan’s family owns a lake house and stop at that marina for gas and food all the time, so it was really scary to hear about that and praying that they were OK. Definitely makes you realize the little things we take for granted, and the stupid stuff we let ruin our days. Thank you so much for sharing this <3
I’m still stunned that something like this happened in America. It sounds like a tragedy that would happen overseas in the Middle East. Really heartbreaking.
Totally just listened to that song while baking my brother chocolate chip muffins at 7am since he is leaving tomorrow :O Haha!

What a nice sister! :)
I love the list of positivity! Definitely made me smile… one of the things that made me smile this week has been the lack of humidity and ample sunshine which has allowed me to eat lunch outside :) Hope you have a fabulous day girl!

I LOVE eating lunch outside. I haven’t since I was in NYC but it was definitely a bright spot in my day.
Love rainstorms and def love lighting a good candle!
I’m excited for fall-scented candles. Those are my favorite!
I love this post! The little things are some of the best things! I love sleeping during rainstorms, and I still love “Fight Song”!

I may or may not belt out the chorus to that song. So good!
Love happy blog posts…It truly is the little things that can bring us so much joy! The other day I watched my puppy playing with herself in the yard with a toy…she was so happy barking at herself running around, it made me laugh out loud. I just laughed and smiled. It made me happy!

Ah I love that! Watching my dog play always makes me happy too. I think dogs in general can brighten up any day.
I’m a firm believer that it’s the little things in life that add up to make the biggest differences, so I’m totally loving all the things on your list. Some other things for me would be my morning cup of coffee, this time of the year, chocolate anything, and fresh flowers. So many things to be grateful for when we just take a minute to stop and look around.

Fresh flowers! Should have added that to my list. My roommate just bought some for our dining room table and I always smile when I see them.
First time commenting here haha but things like this seriously make me the happiest sometimes. Having cold watermelon after a hot run and reading by a candle are on the top of my list of little things :)
Hi Amanda! Thanks for stopping by. Watermelon should be a staple after every hot run. Plus it’s good for muscle recovery ;)
Life is much sweeter when we allow ourselves to get excited by the little things. This post is a great reminder of that!

I agree :) Hope you’ve had a great day!
Oh yes, it’s all about the little things in life. I feel if we develop the ability to see even the tiny sparks of brightness on dark days we will be happier people altogether.
One small happy thing for me today was my sister complimenting me on the way I worded something. Yes, ridiculous, I know, but I’m a word fiend.

Compliments from my sister are always a bright spot in my day. Thanks for sharing!
Rainstorm napping!! I honestly would love if 23 1/2 hours of the day were sunny but for my half hour nap it was gray and thundering.

I’m 100% with you. Even though I don’t feel guilty for napping, it takes the pressure off feeling like I *need* to be doing something. And it makes for a cozy environment.
Aww, what a cute post. Sometimes you just need to stop and reflect and APPRECIATE things! I love your positivity. :)
This week, I’m happy for warm, beautiful Austin nights, getting solid workouts in, having fun with my company softball team, andddd the announcement of my 3 favorite bands coming to town together in October. xo!
I love all those things. The softball team sounds so fun! I used to play but I don’t know how good I’d be now.
I love cuddling under the duvet when I can hear the rain outside!
This week I smelt a lovely fruity bonfire and definitely had the feeling that Fall is on the way which always makes me smile since it is by far my favourite season :)

I think it should be mandatory for people to nap/cuddle on the couch when it’s raining out.
Yup the little things are such a treasure!

Right?! And those things are everywhere.
i. love. this. and needed it today ! WTF i have not seen those snack packs yet ! i cannot wait !!!!!!! i love pretzels in pb as a post run snack and have always made my own w pb in a tupperware and pretzels sticking out but now i can pay way more than i should for a snack pack. hahaha. but a snack pack that is GF !!!! this week im thankful for some small things. like catching up on some old tivo, consoling a friend over a pet that passed away and being told that what i said was helpful and made her feel better (im not always great at saying the right thing), and deciding to let go of something someone else wanted me to do and instead doing what i thought was better. and….i am making a GF wedding cake for someone so i made 3 test cakes to try to practice some GF recipes and all 3 were decent. i don’t have to tell you how good that felt !!!!!!!!
Get those snack packs! Target! I’m sure you made your friend feel loved and supported. I never know the right things to say but sometimes just listening is enough.
