Today is an extra special Friday because my family is coming to visit! They haven’t been to Miami in a (very) long time as I always prefer to go home, so their trip is much needed.

Get here already!
A few random things before I sign-off for the weekend…
-In my quest to try new-to-me foods, condiments, spices, etc., this week, I added turmeric, collard greens and Dijon mustard to the mix. They are officially staples for different reasons. Turmeric went really well with cauliflower, the collard greens were an easy addition to my wraps (instead of piling in lettuce), and the Dijon mustard goes well with just about everything.
-With the new health app on my iPhone I tracked my steps for one day…3,000 total. I need to do better in that department. I know I sit a lot during the day, but for the most part, I can’t help it. I decided to make a homemade stand-up desk in my apartment so at least I have the option to get up off my butt. Yes, I used KIND bar cases. I have so many of them in my room so it only made sense. Sorry for the yellowish photo.
-On a similar note, I’ve done this 15 minute yoga video for the last two nights. After sitting (and obviously not walking) all day the stretching felt really good.
-How awesome is this calendar? I got it for Christmas and even though I’m not running so much (nothing this week), I love reading the daily note.
-And, just in case you need a reminder…
Have a wonderful weekend!
P.S. I started adding to and organizing my navigation bar. Hopefully things can be more user friendly :)

What new food have you tried lately?
Do you track your steps? Not normally but I might start.
Yay! Turmeric is one of my top 3 favorite spices! Load it on everything girl! The color is so pretty and all those anti-inflammatory benefits! And omg…DIJON is SOOOOOOOO good! I ALWAYS have it in the fridge!
And….I am going to stack up a standing desk today! My desk in my room is so low so I have to sit….unless I stack the boxes! I will and need to do it!
And have a fabulous weekend with the fam! XOXOXO

I’ve had Dijon on almost everything since I wrote this. Just SO good!
Enjoy your weekend with your family! It is always so exciting to have family come visit & to be able to spend time together! I hate how much I sit at my desk too, so I’ve done the stand up desk too. I actually feel a lot more focused when I am standing up and using my laptop rather than sitting!

I’ve found that I’m pretty productive standing up, too!
I use the Health app on my phone too and I love it! I have mine linked up to My Fitness Pal too and it automatically imports my info. Super easy!!

I’ve only used the steps feature but I want to experiment more!
I bought that calendar after Christmas with an Amazon giftcard. I love it!

Gives me a laugh (or inspiration) every morning!
Love mustard! I feel ya I get on sauce/spice kicks and it’s what I put on everything. I need a bigger rotation. Your family looks just like you! Have a fantastic weekend <3

Thanks, Georgie! :)
Ahhh have a great weekend with your family! I know how exciting that can be :) Also, I had to laugh at the KIND bar makeshift desk- looks familiar to the makeshift seat I used to use when I would accompany KBT to various events ;)

Seats, desks, tables…the KIND boxes are very versatile ;)
Aw, have fun with your family! <3 I'm soooo bad with sitting now that I'm working full time, so I feel you — but I love your makeshift standing desk. =) And thanks for the yoga video – I'm always looking for something like that!

Thanks, Emily! Ironically even on my non-school/work days I still find myself sitting a lot. Oops!
That running calendar is hilarious! Awhile ago my friend introduced me to cardamom. It’s just the right amount of “spicy” for me (I’m a wimp), and it really helps my digestion. Someone I work with stole reams of paper from the supply room to raise her computer, so I think your boxes are a pretty good set-up!

Ohh I’ve never tried that! I will look for it :)
Turmeric is a new spice find for me (well…about a year ago). Did you know it’s a natural anti-inflammatory spice? Great for natural pain and inflammation soothing and healing in your body overall.
