Friday Things

Hello, hello! How was your week? As the saying goes, time sure does flies when you’re having fun because my spring break is quickly coming to a close. My posting has been sporadic while I’ve been home but I will return to “normal” next week.

As for today, there are some things I just want need to share. You know, the fun Friday-like things.

*Thanks, Clare and Heather for hosting!

1. I tried to be all healthy and get on the green juice bandwagon. Major fail. I took one sip and gagged. I guess it was partly my fault because I picked the one with the most (?) alkaline. I figured “go big or go home,” but in my case it was a waste of $10. Live an learn, right?

Mine is on the left. My mom’s (right) wasn’t great either.

2. It already feels like summer in Florida. I went to a Yankees spring training game this week and it was 90 degrees and sunny. I have a farmer’s tan to prove it. If it’s like this in March, June-September is going to be brutal. But I prefer the heat one million times over the cold, you can quote me on that.

3. I went back to Fresh Kitchen last night for dinner. I’m contemplating going again for lunch tomorrow. It’s THAT good. Tampa people, you must go!

I got the same thing as last time except with brown rice instead of sweet potato noodles.

4. My dog doesn’t understand selfies. But I sure will miss our walks together.

5. I haven’t run in a week. Part of me is excited to get back at it (when I feel like it) and part of me has really enjoyed sleeping in and changing up my workouts. Speaking of that, I’ve tried some cool new-to-me exercise classes this week and I will share more soon.

With that, I’m off to enjoy another day of freedom (read: naps).

Do you prefer the hot or cold?

Green juice fan? What’s your favorite combination?

It takes serious talent to get a good selfie with your dog. I completely understand that one! Ha. It looks like you had a great week. Cold pressed juice isn’t for everyone… especially the green ones. Maybe you’ll have better luck next time. Thanks for linking up, Happy Friday!

He doesn’t realize how important it is to look at the camera! If only I had a treat with me. Thanks so much for hosting! I love your blog :)

  2. Sarah @ Sarah's on the Run says

Ugh, I’m not a fan of green juice either. I’m still working on it! The college I work at is on spring break too so it’s been nice to have a quiet fitness center. :) And TOTALLY a fan of hot weather. I’m so over winter!

For green juice, I gotta have an apple in there for sweetness!

Your dog’s face is just so perfect :D
I tried Trader Joe’s green juice once and I felt the same way – I ended up adding it to a smoothie. To be honest, I’d rather eat veggies than drink them, but there are some yummy fruit/veggie smoothie/juice blends that a like as a treat.
It’s been like 40 degrees and it feels like heat wave!

I’d rather eat my vegetables too. I can do green smoothies because of the banana/fruit/extra yummy things. 40 degrees?! Finally inching closer to spring.

  6. Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine says

Ekkk! I am so not a juice fan! I’m against it anyway and REFUSE to change my stance, hahahahahaha!
Warmth <3 …..so help me out. How do I dress for outdoor warm weather runs? I only have experience in the cold!

Ooooh that’s true…the warmer weather is new for you with running! Guess that means new workout clothes, right? ;) I still like wearing capris until it gets really hot. Then shorts are the only options. Normally I wear a tank-top but for this time up north I would suggest a light long-sleeved shirt.

  7. Sarah @pickyrunner says

Enjoy your last day at home! I WISH it was that hot already! I’m with you- I’d rather be hot than cold any day.

I’m sooo with you on preferring hot over cold. Even though it gets brutal in Texas, I can’t complain .. I suffered through Northeast winters for too long! Haha. I’ve had the same experience with juices sometimes .. ugh, I just don’t always want to feel like I’m drinking my garden, lol. Enjoy the rest of your break, girl!

Taking ANY picture of my dog is nearly impossible. She’ll be looking right at you, and as soon as you pull out the camera, she looks away. Stubborn, silly puppy :) Enjoy the end of your break!

Sometimes green juices do take a few tries – I really do prefer green smoothies! Juices with beets, however – are my favorite. I love a good beet + lemon + ginger + carrot combination. It’s slightly sweet but not too much – a nice zing from the ginger! PS your puppy is so adorable – haha they never do understand selfies!

I definitely prefer hot vs. cold. So glad it’s finally starting to warm up again!

I’ve never tried green juice before, but I’m a big fan of green smoothies! :D If you throw spinach into a smoothie with bananas + your choice of milk (I usually use almond or soy), you can’t taste the spinach at all! :]

It looks like you have had a great spring break! I would pay is much for it to be at warm up here AND to get to see some baseball! (But not the Yankees….). Props to you for trying the green juice! I don’t think I’ll ever be brave enough to try that.
