Most bloggers title these catch-up, chatty posts “Virtual Coffee Date.” I’d do that today but I don’t actually drink coffee. So in the spirit of authenticity we are drinking kombucha instead and catching up after a week of sporadic blogging. If you don’t drink kombucha, this is the sign you’ve been waiting for.
If we were having kombucha…I’d start by saying thank you for your supportive comments last week. Through the highs and lows I want to keep this space honest yet optimistic. Combining the two can be hard at times so thanks for sticking with me.
If we were having kombucha…I’d tell you that I can’t wait for this weekend! My mom and I are traveling out-of-state for a quick getaway (follow along on Instagram!) and, among other things, I’m looking forward to breathing outside and not suffocating to death. Then I’d ask if you were sick of my heat and humidity jokes. I’d probably say “sorry not sorry.”
What are you doing for Labor Day Weekend?
If we were having kombucha…I might mention that I miss running. Then again, I might not bring it up because there are better things to talk about. In general, I’m still not doing much on the exercise front, aside from the occasional strength training and yoga. I’m slowly working my way back and really listening to my body. I’d like to think I’m a pro at that now!
I’d admit to having a slight FOMO from not running or being active, especially this time of year. I’m combating that by being very mindful of social media usage and giving myself a little breather on that end (aka not using it as much).
If we were having kombucha…I’d tell you about my new favorite leggings. How fun are these fruit-patterned pants from Terez? I got so many compliments when I wore them on Saturday.
If we were having kombucha…I’d ask you if you actually like kombucha. Then I’d tell you that my dad jokingly/annoyingly pronounces it “cam-boo-cha” instead of “com-boo-cha.” Actually he calls it Cam Newton-cha because we like to throw sports into our daily conversations.
If we were having kombucha…I’d admit that I’ve been a bad blogger lately. I’ve actually been writing non-stop, but mostly in a diary-like stream of consciousness. I was trying to form cohesive posts from said stream of consciousness but it wasn’t clicking. I’m trying to not post just for the sake of posting, hence the quiet front last week.
I don’t think I’ll ever have this blogging thing down pat. I’m constantly trying to figure out ways to improve this space while maintaining my core roots. What do you look for in blogs? Why do you return to your favorites?
If we were having kombucha…I’d tell you that Archie (our puppy) got a bad haircut last week and now looks like a mad scientist. Luckily his hair has grown back very quickly so the evidence is mostly gone. Sayonara to that groomer.
If we were having kombucha…I’d tell you I walked into Lululemon and Athleta and left empty-handed. I’d probably ask you to pat me on the back because it was a big accomplishment.
If we were having kombucha…I’d want you to tell me about your life. So fill me in!
Mega props for not buying the whole Lulu store! That’s always my downfall. I love blogs that share a little bit into the lives of bloggers – it’s how I’ve connected and been able to relate to people :)
Now that Lulu’s new fall clothing is in…it’s going to be dangerous!
I”m glad that you’ve been writing, whether or not it is here on the blog. It is so important for our souls. And those leggings, yo. At least the bum isn’t melons.
I understand the FOMO–you know I do–but you are doing the right thing, and all of this yoga? Will make you a way stronger runner!

The notes app on my phone is just FILLED with random thoughts. It feel so good to get it out, blog or not.
Oh my gosh Archie! Poor pup. I feel like I could comment on everything you said, but for the sake of not making this a huge comment, I’ll resist, lol. I hear ya on FOMO but you know getting back to things healthy is better than going back injured. In my life, I’m waiting for the temps to drop a little (as I’m sure you are too!) and wishing it wasn’t Monday. I am hopefully getting back to teaching group fitness next week (!!!) and I’m excited about that. I’d also share I’ve never had kombucha, but given how picky I am, I’m sure I won’t like it, ha!

I’m so happy to hear about you going back to teaching group fitness! Wish I could take a class :) Go get some kombucha! I’ll admit, it’s an acquired taste at first.
My whole family pronounces kombucha wrong! I have just given up trying to correct them, as well as trying to correct how they quinoa, but I think they pronounce it wrong just to bug me now haha. Sounds like you are going to have a wonderful Labor Day getaway! Can’t wait to hear about it :)

I think my family has nailed quinoa! Although I haven’t tested them on that one in a while :)
I’m liking the leggings ;)
Poor puppy <3 At least he is still 100% cute ;)
(exactly why I hate getting my OWN hair cut…you just never know! Hahahahaha!)
Labor day weekend = college move-in :O

I only trust one person with my hair! Even when I was at school I would wait until I was home for break to get it cut. I hope everything went well with your move-in :)
I’m actually currently drinking coffee now, but I did pick up some kombucha this week! It’s a very special treat for me because I don’t get it often, but when it’s on sale at Whole Foods and there’s a rebate on ibotta so it’s basically free, I get some!

I don’t drink Starbucks (or spend money on non-water beverages) so I like to think of my daily kombucha is equivalent to that ;)
Honestly, I return to blogs that have an authentic voice from girls and women who tell real stories about their real lives. I browse through the fancy bloggers with millions of followers but what I want is someone who writes authentically and someone I can relate to. My two favorite bloggers are http://www.thegirlwholovestowrite.com and http://www.thelifeofbon.com. I have never tried kambucha but I think the time to try is coming soon!
Danielle @ afloat on a full sea
I feel the same way. The daily (and real) life posts from bloggers are my favorite :)
I’m not a kombucha lover but I know a lot of people are obsessed. I don’t know how you didn’t buy the whole lulu store! It’s now basically in the downstairs of my building so I’m going to have the hardest time not spending all of my money. I love your deeper, thought-provoking posts because I feel like I can relate to your experiences, or have been there myself, but you have to do what is best for you and blog about the things that come to you! It’s one of those things that comes and goes and I’m sure you’ll get your blogging mojo back soon.

I really need to utilize self-control now that Lulu’s fall clothes are out. So many things I want! And you know I feel the same about your blog…the mojo ebbs and flows.
I’ve never had kombucha, but I love how you kept it authentic with a virtual ‘booch’ date. :) I hope your trip with your mom is really relaxing and fun and refreshing. :) I actually really like your posts where you ramble and share Em, so don’t mind sharing them if you want to. Those leggings are SO cute! :) The color just pops out of them.

We had the best time on vacation! It was just the refresher I needed.
Obsessed with those leggings. It also is making me the largest bowl of fruit right now haha. That’s super exciting you’re taking a trip this weekend! I feel like Labor Day is always a good excuse to get out of town.

Still can’t get over we were in the same place!!!!
I love kombucha, and my dad gives up trying to pronounce it after the first syllable. It’s like, “Komb…oo…?” ?
And I know the feeling of writing but not blogging all of it… and of not knowing exactly where I’m going with the blog, as you know. There are a lot of thoughts up in my head that need sorted out, but haven’t made it to the blog yet. It does feel a little “bad blogger”ish, but as long as it keeps my sanity, I won’t complain too much.

Exactly! Things need to be sorted out in my head before I can make sense of them enough to write a blog post.
I love your comment about running! Ha! I miss it too..some days…but obviously not enough to make a huge change! I think it’s easy to return to your favorite bloggers when you’ve been reading for a while and you get attached to their story! Also, my husband LOVES Kombucha, so you two would for sure get along!
Sarah @ Sweet Miles recently posted…Adeline: 10 Month Update
I’m itching to run but being very patient to wait until my foot fully heals! Love that your husband loves kombucha too :)
Those leggings are on point! Love the bright colors!
So fun, right?! A definite mood booster.
I have a popsicle tank top from Terez and love it! It’s totally ridiculous but it makes me smile. I like hearing how other people spend their time, things they like, things that aren’t going as planned. I follow bloggers who I feel like I have something in common with, taste in food, lifestyle, taste in clothes, to inspire my everyday. So what I look for is honesty. And that’s why I like your blog and why I keep coming back. :)
I can’t do this humidity anymore. I HATE IT.
The ridiculous bright outfits always make me smile! They make working out more fun, right?
I think we are on the same lines with what we look for in blogs. Honesty and a down-to-earth vibe is key!
If we were having kombucha I’d tell you that your fruit leggings are awesome! I’d also be a little bit apprehensive because I’ve never tried kombucha before and I’m not even 100% sure what it is. I’d also ask you why it is that having an excellent nights sleep makes you feel like a zombie?…
Kombucha is a fermented drink so it’s fizzy. A little tart but refreshing!
Good job resisting the Lulu urges! If we were having kombucha I would tell you that I love those leggings, and that I am looking forward to this 3 day weekend. I feel like I need a break from school and it’s only the second week! Haha, hopefully the anxiety of the start of a new semester will subside soon.
It always takes a few weeks to get in the groove! I hope you had a great weekend :)
if we were having kombucha… i’d probably spit it out in your face because 99% of the time, i don’t like kombucha ?
SO, if we were drinking TEA, i’d say i feel the same about exercise. i’m struggling to get back into the swing of things. i’d wish you luck on your trip, i hope it is super fun :) and i’d say i neeeed those leggings, because, gimme all the fruit!

I’ll gladly take any kombucha from you :) I’m slowly getting back into the fitness world but it’s hard after time off!
