Hello, hello! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I’m feeling chatty today and have some things I need want to tell you so I thought a “highs and lows” post fit the bill. But first, I want to thank you for your supportive and encouraging comments on last Thursday’s post about my post-graduation “plans.” It felt freeing to write and I’m very excited to start my next chapter in 31 (!!) days. Be prepared for frequent mentioning of days left until graduation.
Weekend Highs & Lows
High: Attending the opening of the women’s PUMA Shop at Finish Line in the Macy’s at my local mall (Dadeland Mall). That was a mouthful of a sentence. I went through a FitFluential campaign and got to meet the PUMA-loving celebrity trainer, Astrid Swan. She trains Julianne Hough…see this article for her workout tips!
In the interview she answered that push-ups are her favorite go-to workout move and asked if anyone in the audience wanted to do them with her (she said she does them everywhere) and because no one spoke up, crippled one-legged me volunteered. Not my best push-up form (arms are too wide I think) but not too bad for only using one leg. This photo is us at the top of the push-up.
P.S. Sorry, mom, for wearing the wrong sports bra with this shirt. I was too lazy to change (story of my life).
Low: Speaking of The Boot, it mentioned it before but it is NOT meant for rainy days. It poured on Saturday and I spent a decent amount of time drying it off after.
High: My sister turned 18 this weekend!
Low: I wasn’t with her to celebrate. She’s in college now and I haven’t seen her since August because our breaks didn’t overlap. This is the longest we’ve ever gone without seeing each other. Except for, you know, those three years before she was born when I ruled the house. Now we share the throne.
High: Friday was World Kindness Day and, as a campus rep for KIND snacks, it was the biggest holiday of my year. Slight exaggeration, but it WAS a big deal. To celebrate, I passed out KIND bars with a handwritten note to unsung heroes on campus such as maintenance staff, food service, custodians, administration and professors. Of course, the regular non-hero students got some loving too. People were thrilled!

Low: The absolutely horrific attacks in Paris that only re-emphasized the need for kindness across the world. There’s not anything I can say here hasn’t already been said and “low” is an extreme understatement. But I’m keeping those people in my prayers.
High: FOUR days until Thanksgiving break.
Low: The Eagles lost in an embarrassing game against the Dolphins. Not my favorite way to end a Sunday. Hey, there’s always next year…
*Linking up with MIMM. Thanks, Katie!*
Weekend high: Enjoying a night out with friends after a full day of writing my senior research paper!
Weekend low: Aforementioned senior research paper writing
Brie @ Lean, Clean, & Brie recently posted…Lean, Clean, & Brie Reader Survey
I just replied to Liv’s comment but I desperately need to get on a research paper for one of my classes. It just always seems to get “bumped” from the list…purposely, of course.
Wow, so awesome that you only have 4 days till Thanksgiving break! And the event you attended through FitFluential sounds super cool. YGG for volunteering to do pushups!
Weekend low: doing lotssss of paper writing
Weekend high: getting to catch up with a bunch of friends!
Liv @ Healthy Liv recently posted…My First CrossFit Experience
I have been MAJORLY procrastinating writing a paper. Trying to get some of it done so I don’t have to do too much over break.
The Puma event sounds like so much fun! I always get jealous when Fitfluential sends out those emails..none are EVER in Pittsburgh. Boo! A high for me was that the Steelers won (against the Browns too! Our rivals!), the low was that I was knee deep in cleaning products so I didn’t watch! Another high- I found a bunch of unused giftcards whilst cleaning. It was like getting paid to clean :)
One of the perks of living in Miami! But I’d rather give up that perk and not live here haha. I LOVE finding money/gift cards randomly. Lucky girl :)
The event at Macy’s sounds like it was really fun! Good for you for volunteering for the push ups while having to wear the boot! Sorry about your Eagles. The Ravens are totally sucking it up this year, and they always lose right at the end of the game. I still love them but it’s depressing.
My weekend high was simply having dinner with a friend last night, and my low was probably thinking about my ex all day yesterday. Womp womp.

I’m the same way…I love my Eagles but this season is depressing. Uh sorry about your low. Hope you were able to bounce back :)
I feel like we have similar feels on Sunday football – the Giants game… totally traumatizing. PS. Love that you handed out Kind bars – the world needs a little more acts of kindness.

Uh I felt that sickening feeling as the Pats lined up to kick the field goal (even though I wanted the Giants to lose haha).
Happy 18 to your sister! And I adore Juliane Hough – so Im totally jealous you got to meet her trainer! And I was at the store the other day and saw some CRAZY kind bar flavors. Jalenpeno and Honey Mustard? Whaaaat?!

Haha yes that is part of the STRONG & KIND line of savory bars. They are more of a protein bar. I’d recommend it in the afternoon!
I’m impressed that you got up and volunteered to do pushups – what a great way to “push” yourself…haha. My High was returning home to my husband after 3 months away doing a dietetic internship. My low was unpacking (yuck!) and lots of cleaning. But, now, I have a clean house for the week ahead!

Wow 3 months away?! Going home must have been the best feeling. Also, good for you for unpacking right away. I procrastinate that BIG time.
HA I can’t even do one pushup with two good legs. I like these highs and lows posts.. maybe I need to get around to doing one of my own. Very cool that you got to volunteer and do push-ups alongside a celebrity trainer!

I feel like I “stole” this “high and low” post from you? Haha…do one :)
I agree with her! Push-ups are the best!! What a fun meet and greet!

My mom said the same…push-ups are the best!
That looks like such a fun event and you were definitely dressed for the part! My sister and I are two years apart and it was awful not seeing each other for extended periods of time during college! Haha now I live with her and her husband so maybe one of you have that to look forward to :)

Haha we’ve said that maybe one day we’ll live together! That’s sweet that you get to be together.
That’s cool you got to meet that celebrity trainer! Confession: I can’t even do one regular push up :P
I really should have worn makeup because I felt out of place. Oh well ;)
Looks like so much fun. I’ve done a few of her workouts on POPsugar fitness Youtube they were great. My highs were going to church and spending time with my family and the lows included thinking about the tragedies around the world not only in Paris I am praying for everyone.

I have to check out her workout videos now! I am praying for everyone too.
I don’t know why I got it stuck in my head that you were graduating in the spring, but WHOA! You really are ending university soon. That’s so fast! But I know you’re going to do amazing things!
High for the weekend: visiting a Christmas lighting ceremony!
Low for the weekend: it being over!
Happy Monday, Emily. :)

The countdown is ON! One month to go! Ha- I should have added that as a “low” too.
I was handed a KIND Bar outside the tube station on Friday! It was the first one I had ever had but definitely won’t be the last!
High: Free HIIT session on Saturday morning and seeing my parents when they dropped in on their way to a convention :)
Low: Somehow managing to pull a muscle in my back…
I love that even the London team was celebrating World Kindness Day! I hope you try some more soon. Oh sorry to hear about your back. Back injuries sound so painful. Hope it’s just a fluke!
No one wanted to walk into our home Sunday night when both the Eagles & my team (Packers) lost. I mean goodness gracious, did either team show up?? Ah!

SERIOUSLY…what is with this season?!
Weekend high was an awesome concert and date night with my husband, low was definitely everything that happened in Paris :(

That is so cool you got to meet a celeb trainer! And congrats on being in the home stretch for school! My high this week was going to a football game with my boyfriend and his family. My low was the horrific news about the attacks in Paris, and my sorority’s huge philanthropy event being cancelled the same night due to protesters on campus :/ Definitely need more love and kindness in this world. My sorority sisters and I are coming up with some sort of kindness campaign to have on campus soon!

That’s great that you will be having an event focused on kindness. We definitely need more things like that :)
Very kind of you to share the throne with your sister ;). Actually, a former teacher of my sister used to call me the #2 in the succession to the throne [it’s a word play on our name].
Paris was the low for all of us, I guess. There are no words for this.

I’ve come a long way from my younger days. I wouldn’t have shared the throne even 5 years ago!
