I’m back in the city (for my last week) after a whirlwind trip to Rhode Island. Within 48 hours I rode a subway, a bus, an Uber, two boats, a car, a train and a taxi. All I’m missing is a plane, which I’ll cover next week. Because I’m exhausted, I’ll let the pictures from my marvelous weekend do most of the talking.
Win: FINALLY meeting Sarah! It was a short but sweet visit so we made the most of it with non-stop talking on her boat and then kayaking. She’s the sweetest.

Give me some of your tan, please.
Win: Going on a sunset boat cruise in Newport on the most beautiful summer evening. Bonus win: getting to see a bunch of my family :)
Win: Finishing Born to Run (finally) and napping twice on Saturday. I take pre-race resting VERY seriously.
Win: Eating this picture-perfect meal made by my cousin. I helped with the zoodles (made with mashed avocado) but she grilled salmon burgers, peaches and beets. If she could cook for me everyday that would be great, thanks.
Win: Running the Narragansett Bay Half in a surprisingly decent (for me) time, especially considering the dreadful heat. Summer finally decided to show up in the Northeast, of course on the wrong day. Final time: 1:49:04. Full recap tomorrow.
Win: Going to bed at 8 p.m. Sunday night. Well, that’s the plan as I’m writing this before that time on Sunday night. After an early wake-up call, a race in the heat, traveling and not napping on the train (who am I?), I’ll consider this a major win.
Great job on your half! I was thinking about you yesterday morning as I was complaining about the heat and humidity. It must have been one HOT run!! It looks like you had a great weekend. I love seeing blog friends finally get to meet in person!

Thank you! Hopefully we can meet up one day :)
Wow, what an awesome weekend! That’s a terrific time for the half so you should be very proud! Summer definitely arrived in Pittsburgh as well. I worked on my tan this weekend for sure! I got to see Pentatonix in concert this weekend- definitely a win :)

Jealous of you going to that concert AND tanning. I’m lacking in both departments.
Congratulations on the half marathon win! That must’ve been a huge highlight of your weekend. I’m quite impressed by all the forms of transportation you took in 48 hours. I assume your a bit exhausted today? Ha!
To answer your question: I go to bed around 9:30
Thank you, Jessie! I slept for 10 hours on Sunday night and took a nap Monday. That helped get me back to normal :)
We finally got the typical heat and humidity of summer here, as well. It sounds like you had a lovely weekend! Great job on your half!

Figures that the week before I leave the Northeast it starts feeling like summer! Loved your post today :)
Congrats on an amazing run!! The heat and humidity yesterday were NO JOKE! Sounds like a perfect weekend and bed by 8PM sounds ah-maze-ing. And can your cousin please cook for me too!? Hope you have a FABULOUS last week in NYC!!

After going to bed at 8 AND sleeping for 10 hours I was a new person.
LOVE this post…It is a happy one and I can’t wait to hear your race recap! I go to bed at 9:30 WELP…I’m a early riser and so much more productive when I’m sipping my coffee…HAHA!

I’m 100% an early riser! I’d rather go to bed early and get up early than the other way around.
Ah the photos look like a beautiful place to spend the weekend. Congrats on the half time despite the bad temps. Yikes, it was awful weather yesterday!

Worst day for the weather to snap into summer, huh? Glad it was an early-ish start!
It looks like you had a great weekend indeed! That zoodle meal looks heavenly omg.

congrats…thats an awesome time ! especially with the heat. we ran on sunday AM 12 miles in half prep and i cut myself some slack on the time since it was 75 at 6 AM already and really humid. On weeknights i normally go to bed around 10ish. on weekend closer to midnight depending on what im doing. ive been known to pass out on the couch on friday nights at 9 though….seems like i am so tired from the week a movie or tv on friday night is the recipe for my totally zonking out !
I tend to adjust my expectations for long runs (or really any distance) during the super hot and humid days. I’m so exhausted on Friday nights! I’d rather have a low-key night then and save Saturday for any “adventures.”
You seriously KILLED it yesterday! I guess being from florida comes in handy ;) I’m SO SO SO glad we got to hang out! The time flew by and we need to do that again asap.

Right?! Summer running in Florida has some benefits I guess. And yes PLEASE…soon!
Congrats on your half!! Forgive my ignorance, but is the entire race on a track? If so, kudos to you. That is some major mental toughness – I don’t know that I could run 13.1 continuously around a track!! You go girl :) proud of you!

Oh no! I wouldn’t last more than 2 miles on a track. It just ended on one :)
So fun that you got to meet Sarah! And all of your sleep sounds amazing- my weekend win was sleeping 10 hours last night and I’ll hopefully get lots more since I’m crazy jet lagged at the moment!

You deserve all the sleep in the world! I get jet lagged after a normal 3 hour flight haha
You are winning Emily! Great job on your half marathon. I’ve never had grilled peaches they look delectable. I hope you got to bed on time. :)

Definitely try grilling peaches! Great with a summer-like meal.
Ah, I enjoy both your and Sarah’s blog, so I am so excited you two got to meet! Also, you killed that marathon! Congratulations Emily!

Thank you so much <3 It was a blast getting to meet Sarah!
I’ve never grilled peaches, but that looks so good! I guess my weekend win was flying home on United and not having any delays! Congrats on the great half time. I couldn’t believe how big it has suddenly gotten!
Rebecca @ MyEagerFeet recently posted…Guilt
I would consider that a MAJOR win. I can’t remember the last time I flew without delays haha
Your sunset boat cruise looks awesome!
