WIAW: Last Day of School (EVER)

12/09/15 | College, Food, Life, Link-up

I’m officially done with class. Well, tomorrow starts exam week so I’m not “officially” done yet, but you get the point. No more sitting in lectures, taking notes or fighting to stay awake in class. Just a few exams and presentations and I’m home free. I write that like this next week will be easy…joke’s on me.

I thought yesterday would be a good day to document a “day in the life,” including what I ate on my last day attending college classes. This entire post (including the bad pictures) screams “college” to me…a little random, messy and perfectly imperfect. I guess it was a good day to document then :)

Day in the Life: 12/08/15

6:45 a.m.- wake up (naturally) and scroll through Instagram. Bad habit to do first thing, I know.

6:59 a.m.- put on the Today Show to make sure I hear the “duun, duun, duuuun” noise at the beginning. Does anyone other than my dad know what I mean? I need to hear that to start my day. I watch the top stories before wanting breakfast.

7:25 a.m.- make and eat breakfast while reading some blogs.

** Life lesson: don’t judge a smoothie by its color.**

This was simple and delicious, despite its Grinch green color. Almond milk + spinach, + strawberries + almond butter + cinnamon topped with granola (which sunk), goji berries and pepitas. I need to work on my topping game….I never put enough!
last day of class

8:15 a.m.- brush teeth and get dressed for class. Send this selfie to my family with the caption “guess who’s leaving for her last day of class ever? THIS GIRL!”

day in the life

8:25 a.m.- leave for campus because I have to print a few things before class.

9:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.- Attend two classes- “Survey of Motion Pictures” and “Women and Gender Studies.” Both are electives and both have been more work than classes in my major. Go figure.

12:15 p.m.- drop off some KIND bars to a campus partner for an event; drive to Walgreens to find out my prescription is NOT ready for pick-up, contrary to the phone call I received.

12:40 p.m.- get back to my apartment and make lunch. I have a variation of the same salad pretty much
every day, the toppings and type of protein change.

Massaged kale + spinach base with a baked chicken breast, 1/2 avocado, sunflower seeds (hidden) and leftover roasted carrots. I massaged the kale with coconut oil and lemon juice and used a balsamic vinaigrette to top it off. Also, I eat salads out of big food storage containers because plates just won’t do.

day in the life

1:10 p.m.- fold laundry from Monday and change my sheets. Nothing is better than getting into bed with crisp, fresh sheets.

1:20 – 2 p.m.- take my daily nap. Arguably my favorite part of the day, minus meal time.

2 p.m. – work on memorizing my final presentation for my PR class. It’s not until Monday so I think I’ll be good to go by then.

2:45 p.m.- have a snack before leaving for class again. Celery sticks + Kalot almond butter. **Another life lesson: if you don’t use the celery as a spoon, you’re doing it wrong.

IMG_4798

3 p.m.- leave for class

3:30 p.m.- 4:20 p.m.- sit through my very last class ever (marketing). It was an exam review so it wasn’t too bad.

4:40 p.m.- get back to my apartment and do this quick kettlebell workout in my room. I’ve done this workout a lot in the last two months.

5 p.m.- FaceTime my family.

6 p.m.- heat up dinner, which I made over the weekend. Chicken thighs + baked sweet potato + zoodles with lemon. You can see my lovely mess of a room in the corner (Target and Whole Foods bags).

dinner2

6:25 p.m.- clean up dinner and shower.

7 p.m.- start typing up this post while watching E! News. Important stuff, people! I kid…I actually do watch the real news every night.

7:30 p.m.- work on the review guide for my marketing exam.

8:15 p.m.- catch up on some of my favorite blogs while eating blueberries and a few spoonfuls of almond butter.

9 p.m.- the plan is to publish this post, get ready for bed and watch last night’s Jimmy Fallon.

10 p.m. ish- I will hopefully be happily asleep.

Public speaking…love or hate? I actually volunteered to give the class presentation in my PR class because it doesn’t bother me.
What time would you wake up without an alarm?

Congrats on your last day of class! I actually hate public speaking. It was always my least favorite thing to have to give presentations in school, and I still don’t like it now in the working world.

Thank you! I hated it when I was younger but got very comfortable with it during high school. Going to an all-girls school probably helped!

Ooo girl look at those pretty pictures! But seriously, your pictures are great! Congrats on being done with school! I think I spent my entire last day of college crying, but my classes were all really easy and I was feeling pre-separation anxiety from my friends and my amazing college town that I still miss.

Our lunch, dinners, and desserts seem the exact same, but my kale is going to be mad that yours gets massaged and mine doesn’t! I’m on a permanent purple sweet potato kick too!

Instagram first thing in the morning while in bed is one of my bad habits too.

On public speaking, I am getting better at being okay with it but I am never one to volunteer to speak! I would probably wake up at 7:30 without any alarm. I’m a self-denied morning person!

Good luck on your FINAL finals!!!!

Your survey of motion pictures class sounds interesting! I took a women’s studies class my freshman year and was overwhelmed by it- in the best possible way! It really opened my eyes.

Since I cut back my running, I’m finding it easier to sleep later because I’m not in the habit of waking up to run every morning.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who literally attempts to schedule in daily naps. They are my body’s saviour I swear after lifting for 2 hours every day and ..cough…not getting my 7-8 every night. Oh how many naps will xmas break bring ;-)

Oh and that purple sweet tater made me turn green with envy as I finished up my last one yesterday and that is incredibly depressing as they only show up here around like 2 times a year (only at whole foods) and they are my fav…sadface.
