I’m officially done with class. Well, tomorrow starts exam week so I’m not “officially” done yet, but you get the point. No more sitting in lectures, taking notes or fighting to stay awake in class. Just a few exams and presentations and I’m home free. I write that like this next week will be easy…joke’s on me.
I thought yesterday would be a good day to document a “day in the life,” including what I ate on my last day attending college classes. This entire post (including the bad pictures) screams “college” to me…a little random, messy and perfectly imperfect. I guess it was a good day to document then :)
Day in the Life: 12/08/15
6:45 a.m.- wake up (naturally) and scroll through Instagram. Bad habit to do first thing, I know.
6:59 a.m.- put on the Today Show to make sure I hear the “duun, duun, duuuun” noise at the beginning. Does anyone other than my dad know what I mean? I need to hear that to start my day. I watch the top stories before wanting breakfast.
7:25 a.m.- make and eat breakfast while reading some blogs.
** Life lesson: don’t judge a smoothie by its color.**
This was simple and delicious, despite its Grinch green color. Almond milk + spinach, + strawberries + almond butter + cinnamon topped with granola (which sunk), goji berries and pepitas. I need to work on my topping game….I never put enough!
8:15 a.m.- brush teeth and get dressed for class. Send this selfie to my family with the caption “guess who’s leaving for her last day of class ever? THIS GIRL!”
8:25 a.m.- leave for campus because I have to print a few things before class.
9:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.- Attend two classes- “Survey of Motion Pictures” and “Women and Gender Studies.” Both are electives and both have been more work than classes in my major. Go figure.
12:15 p.m.- drop off some KIND bars to a campus partner for an event; drive to Walgreens to find out my prescription is NOT ready for pick-up, contrary to the phone call I received.
12:40 p.m.- get back to my apartment and make lunch. I have a variation of the same salad pretty much
every day, the toppings and type of protein change.
Massaged kale + spinach base with a baked chicken breast, 1/2 avocado, sunflower seeds (hidden) and leftover roasted carrots. I massaged the kale with coconut oil and lemon juice and used a balsamic vinaigrette to top it off. Also, I eat salads out of big food storage containers because plates just won’t do.
1:10 p.m.- fold laundry from Monday and change my sheets. Nothing is better than getting into bed with crisp, fresh sheets.
1:20 – 2 p.m.- take my daily nap. Arguably my favorite part of the day, minus meal time.
2 p.m. – work on memorizing my final presentation for my PR class. It’s not until Monday so I think I’ll be good to go by then.
2:45 p.m.- have a snack before leaving for class again. Celery sticks + Kalot almond butter. **Another life lesson: if you don’t use the celery as a spoon, you’re doing it wrong.
3 p.m.- leave for class
3:30 p.m.- 4:20 p.m.- sit through my very last class ever (marketing). It was an exam review so it wasn’t too bad.
4:40 p.m.- get back to my apartment and do this quick kettlebell workout in my room. I’ve done this workout a lot in the last two months.
5 p.m.- FaceTime my family.
6 p.m.- heat up dinner, which I made over the weekend. Chicken thighs + baked sweet potato + zoodles with lemon. You can see my lovely mess of a room in the corner (Target and Whole Foods bags).
6:25 p.m.- clean up dinner and shower.
7 p.m.- start typing up this post while watching E! News. Important stuff, people! I kid…I actually do watch the real news every night.
7:30 p.m.- work on the review guide for my marketing exam.
8:15 p.m.- catch up on some of my favorite blogs while eating blueberries and a few spoonfuls of almond butter.
9 p.m.- the plan is to publish this post, get ready for bed and watch last night’s Jimmy Fallon.
10 p.m. ish- I will hopefully be happily asleep.

Congrats on your last day of class! I actually hate public speaking. It was always my least favorite thing to have to give presentations in school, and I still don’t like it now in the working world.
Lisa @ Lisa the Vegetarian recently posted…Getting Organized
Thank you! I hated it when I was younger but got very comfortable with it during high school. Going to an all-girls school probably helped!

Ooo girl look at those pretty pictures! But seriously, your pictures are great! Congrats on being done with school! I think I spent my entire last day of college crying, but my classes were all really easy and I was feeling pre-separation anxiety from my friends and my amazing college town that I still miss.
Our lunch, dinners, and desserts seem the exact same, but my kale is going to be mad that yours gets massaged and mine doesn’t! I’m on a permanent purple sweet potato kick too!

LOL aw shucks you’re too nice ;) And I laughed about the massaged kale. My kale gets massaged way more than I do! Not fair.
Sam @ See Sam Run says
Congrats on finishing your last day of class!! You will rock your exams and it will feel soooo good when you’re done. Today I have my last final exam ever, then I just have one more presentation!

Thank you! They’re broken up over a few days so they shouldn’t be too terrible :)
Instagram first thing in the morning while in bed is one of my bad habits too.
On public speaking, I am getting better at being okay with it but I am never one to volunteer to speak! I would probably wake up at 7:30 without any alarm. I’m a self-denied morning person!
Good luck on your FINAL finals!!!!

Thanks, Kaylee! I was surprised how many people in my class said they would rather do anything other than present the project. Only 4 of us offered.

Congrats on your last day of classes! That’s an epic moment. Also epic, that salad. Looks so good!

It was an epic moment. A week from today at graduation will be ever better!
Nut butter ALWAYS makes celery tastier! :) You look pretty excited about that last day of school. I hope your Christmas holiday season is good. :)

I can’t eat celery without some type of dressing/sauce/butter.

And I’m a huge almond butter fan, too!

CONGRATULATIONS!! That’s so exciting to be finished with school! Good luck on your finals :) I’ve always enjoyed public speaking. I do get a little nervous, but once I start I feel fine! Your smoothie bowl looks very festive, so I like the color :)
I do get those last-minute nerves right before presenting, but you’re right, they normally go away. Ha- I should have said I purposely made the smoothie that color for Christmas. Not the case ;)
Enjoy! I’ve got 4 finals left for my first semester of grad school so I’m pumped to be done next 4 week and get a month long break from school!

That is a HUGE accomplishment. I know this semester has been a lot of work for you. It will be a well-deserved break.
Congratulations on finishing school! It must feel so good. If I didn’t use an alarm, I still wake up in the half hour surrounding the alarm time. Between 6 and 6:30. Good luck on exams!

WOOHOO!! Congrats!! Tomorrow is my last lecture and then just 2 final tests next week and I’m done for the semester ;)
And I love that you can just leave for class in a tank…lucky florida girl ;)
And electives are always more work! Busy stupid work usually! But I weirdly like public speaking, it just depends on what exactly I’m presenting, but it’s not so bad ;)

Yay for you too! I always have to bring a jacket to class though because the buildings are freezing.
Congrats! YOU DID IT! It’s surreal right? It doesn’t ever feel “real” until… heck I don’t know if real life feels real yet.
Ps. your zoodles always look so pretty

I *almost* did it! One week until I can take that HUGE sigh of relief. Well, thanks :)

Yay on your last class ever! It’s such a weird feeling. I still get a little nervous for public speaking but I’ve gotten in the habit of practicing a lot and if I’m prepared it’s totally fine. I miss napping during college. Naps are my favorite:)

WHOA. No more school… that’s incredible, Emily! What an amazing accomplishment, and I hope you’re very proud of yourself. I’m going to be saying that a lot more often now. Hope you’re cool with that.
Your survey of motion pictures class sounds interesting! I took a women’s studies class my freshman year and was overwhelmed by it- in the best possible way! It really opened my eyes.

You’re so sweet- thank you! I have been feeling proud lately. The women’s studies class has been really eye-opening (and overwhelming too), especially because of the class discussion.

Congrats on being done with classes!! I generally wake up between 6:45-7:30 without an alarm, although the other day I slept until 8:30 for the first time in months (or maybe a year?). Since I cut back my running, I’m finding it easier to sleep later because I’m not in the habit of waking up to run every morning.

I think it depends on my audience, but I don’t hate speaking in front of others. Congrats on being done – I love your day and it totally makes me miss undergrad.
I definitely feel more comfortable in a room of my peers, rather than “older, more professional” people. I suppose that will have to change as I get older!
Congrats! I miss college so much… even 4 years later :) I totally know that sound you’re talking about from the Today Show, ha. If you could pass on your public speaking calmness, that’d be great.

WAHOOO so close to done! Hope the rest of your exams went well :)
Congrats on finishing off classes! Even though there are still exams, that feeling of being done with lectures is SOO nice. Truly worth a splurge or treat of some sort. Goodluck with your exams and presentation!
I also start everyday by hearing the little jingle to my news show. It just sets all gears in motion for my morning. And I also have the news on while blogging at night, although, I must say I probably don’t actually hear 95% of it. Food looks delicious! That purple tater!!!
Thank you so much! I tend to rewind the news a lot because I’ll catch a word or two and realize it was an important story (not that everything isn’t important, but I don’t need to hear everything).
Hooray! Congratulations girl. And I totally know what you mean about the Today show, I remember in elementary school that once I heard the Duh-Duh-Duh it meant I better get my butt moving cause the bus was coming soon!

Haha yes exactly! During elementary school I was normally eating breakfast at that time, but in middle/high school it meant that I needed to be getting ready.

last day of classes is always awesome and so freeing haha but weird at the same time because it doesn’t really hit you until your prof is like…have a great life XD. I’m glad I’m not the only one who literally attempts to schedule in daily naps. They are my body’s saviour I swear after lifting for 2 hours every day and ..cough…not getting my 7-8 every night. Oh how many naps will xmas break bring ;-)
Oh and that purple sweet tater made me turn green with envy as I finished up my last one yesterday and that is incredibly depressing as they only show up here around like 2 times a year (only at whole foods) and they are my fav…sadface.
