Soooo….I got tired of my “Workouts + Weekly Reads” alliteration. There’s so much of that in the blog world anyway so it won’t be missed- ha! Back to the basics it goes. This week I fell back into my normal “4 mile” loop. Even on a treadmill 4-5 miles just seems like a good distance for me. Not far, not that short and can be done in less than 40 minutes.
Monday: 4 miles
Tuesday: Off
Wednesday: 4 miles in the morning + spin at night. This was the first time in a while I fully participated in the spin workout, meaning that when I told the class to “add resistance” I actually added resistance. I took the weeks leading up to the marathon somewhat easy on the bike so this was the first “real” class in a while.
Thursday: Hot vinyasa flow. I have two favorite teachers at my studio and one teaches Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6 a.m. (the other times don’t work with my schedule). I love her class because not only does she give great adjustments and assists, but she always has a focus and inspirational reading. If the class wasn’t awesome I would not be getting out of bed that early, so that says something.
Friday: 4.25 miles. It was my sister’s birthday so I spent my normal workout time FaceTiming with my family over breakfast. I forgot how early I had to get up for high school every morning! After class and a much-needed nap I went to the gym with my cousin (in graduate school) and we ran side-by-side on the treadmill. Man does it take some willpower to run (or workout in general) at 4 p.m. on a Friday! That most likely won’t be a regular occurrence for me.
Saturday: 5 miles. As much as everyone up north is hating the cold (trust me I hate it too), the transition to winter has been very beneficial for me in FL as I don’t have to get up at 6 a.m. to beat the heat. I had a nice breakfast, did some homework and then went for a run. One month ago if I started a run at 10 a.m. I would have been miserable, so yesterday was a welcomed change!
Sunday: Weights. Yes, weights. I’m writing it here so I actually do them. I have an event later this morning and wanted to do something beforehand. I don’t typically sweat a lot when lifting so I can just take a quick European shower (read: towel off and put on perfume and deodorant) and head straight to the event. I’m weird, I know.
I’m still deciding when and how I want to share my favorite posts from around the internet. For now they’ll stay here :)

I’ve really been wanting to do spin again. I loved it the few times I did! The only “straight-up” cardio I do is my two weekly HIIT session on the bike, but I think spin would be fun….just don’t have access to a class…. :P

No spin at your campus gym?! Sometimes I just hop on the bike, put on my headphones and make up a ride on the spot.
Winter certainly isn’t fun for running in Michigan, but it’s nice to be able to sleep in on Saturdays before long runs – because I need to give the weather time to warm up!
I really liked the Millennials article you posted. I was always surprised by how many people in college didn’t do internships or keep their GPAs up, but they blamed the economy for not being able to get jobs. A big pet peeve of mine.

That’s true- running later might be better for you too! Yes, that’s why I loved the article too. I hear so many of my friends (both graduated and still in college) blame the economy/government for not being able to get a job. But this stuff isn’t just handed to us! We have to work for it.
I have not gone to a spin class in awhile! I am missing it. The music and the energy is always great.

I think the music makes or breaks the class!
I didn’t know what to do today (was not running in the cold rain this AM) so I signed up for a spin class after work! Now it means I have to go :)

Signing up for a class that you already paid for is the best way to ensure a workout! I hate the feeling of wasting money. Hope the class kicked your butt, in a good way ;)
