Workouts 3/29 – 4/4

04/05/15 | Fitness, Running, Week in Review, Workouts

Happy Easter! It feels really weird not being home for Easter Weekend (first time ever), but I’m planning to make the most of the day. My mom sent me my Easter basket in the mail last week and I’ve been saving it to open Sunday morning (I’m writing this on Saturday). My sister and I joke that our Easter baskets are always better than Christmas gifts. I think it’s just our level of expectations.

As for workouts, this week was pretty good. Nothing too special except for my run Saturday.

Now, my Easter gift to you…not one but TWO selfies. I know, I’m too nice.

Sunday: 80 minute walk. I’ve been making Friday and Sunday my “long walk” days. The weather isn’t too hot yet (if I go before noon) and I spend time talking to my family or listening to podcasts. I think I covered a little over 5 miles.

Monday: 4 miles + planks

Day in the Life

Tuesday: 3 miles + strength workout. I was short on time this morning but I wanted to run and do strength training. I compromised by breaking up my workout to make sure I didn’t get lazy on either end. I liked this workout and definitely got my heart rate up during the speed portion. My hamstrings were really sore on Wednesday after the RDL’s.

1 mile warm-up

4 rounds of the following (20 reps for strength segment):

400 meters @ 8.0, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 (each round I increased speed)
RDL’s
Bicep curls
Air squats
Tricep dips
Push-ups (did them on my knees for the last round)

1 mile cool down.

Wednesday: Spin

Thursday: 5.25 miles

Friday: 1 hour walk. I didn’t track my mileage but I’m guessing around 4 miles.

Saturday: 10 miles. I did 3 before meeting up with my friends and we did 7 together. Slow pace, good conversation. We ran one of my favorite loops and stopped for a selfie at the Biltmore hotel. Couldn’t ask for a better way to start my day!

Workout recap

Hope you have a happy Easter/Passover/Sunday! xo

Do you prefer to run with people or alone? For long runs, WITH people!

Hope you have a great Easter!! Enjoy your Easter basket :) I have to tell you that I have been listening to Runner’s Connect all weekend and I LOVE it!! I listened to one while on the ellipitcal this morning and it made the 45 minutes so much more bearable– thank you so much for the suggestions!!

Sounds like a great week! I prefer running alone. I used to run with people all the time but recently I prefer going alone. I know most people like running with friends or a group so I’m a bit weird!

No I definitely have days when I want nothing more than to run by myself. But for long runs I like having some company and distraction :)

This is the first Easter I didn’t get a basket – it was a bummer! I will just have to get some discounted candy myself tomorrow. I really enjoy running with others, but I don’t do it very often, since I’m always worried I will be the slowest if I try to run with a group.

I went to Target yesterday and there was still TONS of candy. Yeah running with a group can be tricky. I got lucky that I know a few people who are within 30 seconds of my normal pace. But I don’t mind running slower than normal for a long group run.
