Orange Theory made a comeback this week. New readers: I used to go multiple times a week last summer. Whenever I’m lacking motivation or in a workout rut I sign up for an Orange Theory class. I still have some classes left on the package I paid an arm and a leg for and I have until mid-June to use them up.
Sunday: 1 hour Easter walk
Monday: 4.5 miles
Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: Spin
Thursday: 6 (slow) miles
Friday: Orange Theory (2 miles total: .5 mile warm-up + 1.5 mile workout)
For the treadmill/cardio portion we did a pyramid workout alternating rowing and running. Since the distance on the treadmill was short I ran at 9-10 mph depending on the round.
Round 1: 500 m row / 30 squats / .1 mile all-out sprint
Round 2: 400 m row / 30 squats / .2 mile all-out sprint
Round 3: 300 m row / 30 squats / .3 mile all-out sprint
Round 4: 200 m row / 30 squats / .4 mile all-out sprint
Round 5: 100 m row / 30 squats / .5 mile all-out sprint
I didn’t like the weight room circuit. It was core-focused and I really wanted to work upper body. Oh well.
Saturday: 8 miles
Even though Friday wasn’t a long run, running 3 days in a row was hard for me. My legs were very sore after Saturday’s run and tomorrow (I’m writing this on Saturday) will consist of a nice long walk and foam-rolling.
Happy Sunday!
Ah! Jealous! I want to try Orange Theory!!!

It’s the best workout when you’re in a rut or just want a change.
I love the rowing machine! I haven’t used one in a while, but I used to use one consistently during my freshman year of college and I loved it!

I really like the rower, too. I haven’t used it lately but this class reminded me how effective it is.
Orange Theory sounds fun! I like the rowing machine, but I’m not great at it. I normally do it when my body doesn’t want to cooperate enough for me to run.
Running 3 days in a row is hard for me too! I do my best with only two in a row. I don’t mind generally working out three days in a row, though.

I agree, I’m OK to workout 3 days in a row, but running 3 days straight is hard for me. It probably has a lot to do with “mind over matter” but I think my legs do feel better with a cardio change or rest day.
I run three times in a row a lot during the week, but if they’re not all easy runs, they start to burn me out. I’ve never actually tried a rowing machine (I guess I’m intimidated that everyone will judge my lack of upper body strength?), but Orange Theory sounds like a really fun class. Unfortunately there’s none in Ohio.

Honestly, I don’t even know what is considered “good” for rowing. There are so many numbers on the screen that I just look at distance and time.
I really want to try Orange theory! I don’t think we have it down under though… Last week I went running about five days in a row because I waa super stressed about uni and needed me some endorphins… Just little tiny runs though, no more than 4miles each time! If I am doing harder runs though I don’t usually run more than two days in a row, I love my recovery time :)

I love my recovery time, too. But I’ve definitely gone on short, easy runs during stressful times. Endorphins can work wonders sometimes.
