Hello! I took a mini blogging and social media break last week because of my sister’s graduation events. She graduated from high school on Thursday night and had a party on Friday but there were events every night. We’ve had family in town too so it’s been a whirlwind of a few days. All of the events required pretty dresses and makeup so I’m happy to spend a few days in sweats ;)
I had another good and varied week of workouts. Highlight of the week was working out with Christina again. Hopefully we can meet up again before I leave!
Sunday: This workout from Jen @ Peanut Butter Runner. I followed the workout exactly except I did three sets of the chest and back exercises instead of two.
Monday: Orange Theory. The class is always split 26 minutes on the treadmill and 26 minutes in the weight room/on the rower. I ended up with 3.25 miles on the treadmill.
For the weight room circuit the goal was to complete 2-3 rounds of the following:
-60 mountain climbers
-50 weighted step-ups (25 each leg)
-40 TRX rows
-30 hammer curls (15 each arm)
-20 diamond push-ups (10 each side)
-10 bird dogs in full plank (5 each side)
-700 meter row
I finished 2.5 rounds.
Tuesday: 1 hour walk & talk with a friend.
Wednesday: 5.25 miles.
Thursday: Spoxing with Christina. We went to Epic Boxing & Fitness for spoxing (spinning + boxing) and I loved it. The class started out with about 10 minutes of spinning and then we headed over to the punching bags for boxing. It was broken up into 12 rounds of 3 minutes each incorporating jabs, cross jabs, uppercuts and plank work. Every day of the week is a different focus and Thursday happened to be “plank day” (other days were leg day, arm day, etc.).
Before class started we wrapped our hands and set out our gloves so it was an easy transition off the spin bike. My arms were shaking at the end of class but only my shoulders were sore the day after. I want to go back on leg day.
Friday: 4 miles. I started at 10 a.m. because I wanted a big breakfast right when I woke up. The heat won out this time. It was a rough run with a lot of walking. It happens.
Saturday: Off.
I’ll be back tomorrow with a “life catch-up” post. Enjoy your Sunday!
I want to try Orange Theory sometime this summer – I think a studio is opening near where I’m planning on working, so that might be the perfect opportunity.
And I typically work out solo, but I’ve been running with my dad on occasion when I’m home, and it’s nice to have someone push you a little when maybe you want to wimp out ;)

Definitely give it a try! The first class is usually free. I actually went back with my mom today and it was a little less painful because I had someone to suffer through it with me ;)
Wow what a great week! You did so many different exercises which is great. I’ve never even heard of spoxing but That sounds SO fun! I’ll have to see if it’s anywhere around me! Hope you have a great weekend :)

This was the first I’ve heard of spoxing too! I think the owner got the idea from a studio in California. Or that’s where she was inspired to create it :)
Spoxing! never heard of that :) I’ve only ever done Tae Bo and hurt my back doing it, so I’ve been really leery to do boxing. Sounds like a lot of business with your sister’s graduation – nothing better than being comfy and in sweats after having to be dressed up!

I can see how overuse injuries would be common in Tae Bo, although I’ve never tried it myself! I was in sweats the entire weekend so I made up for all the dresses :)
Looks like a great week! My best workout buddy is my dog, she’s an awesome running companion! I really want to try an Orange Theory class soon!
I want a dog to run with! What kind do you have?
She’s a german shepherd, grey hound mix- she’s the best !

Love to see variety in workouts! Spoxing sounds fun
I’ve been really liking the variety of workouts. Sometimes I just want to run but I really feel better doing a little of everything.
Sounds like you have had a fun weekend! Congratulations to your sis on her graduation. Your orange theory class sounds intriguing! I have never seen something like that, but it looks like an effective way to work out your full body!

It is the most effective workout I’ve tried! It’s 52 minutes of hard work. I will pass on the congrats!
I actually have taken a boxing class and it was different, fun, but didn’t end up doing it again. I work out alone, because after working with my clients all day, I like the peace and quiet. Aren’t social media breaks the best? :)

I totally get that and I would probably be the same way. Before trying spoxing I took one boxing class about two years ago. Soooo let’s see if I can lessen the gap this time.
That’s awesome how many unique fitness classes you take. Spoxing sounds like the name of cleaning product, but that class format sounds fun. I tried a cardio kickboxing class in college, and it was so hard I never tried again!

HAHA it does sound like a cleaning product! I’ve taken a cardio kickboxing class at my school too and it was really challenging. I guess so much so that I haven’t gone back…maybe next semester.
Congrats to your sister on graduating! And I love the sound of spoxing- that sounds like such a fun idea and especially great if you have a short attention span like I do :)

It’s perfect for short attention spans (I have that when it comes to workouts too). By the time I became bored the 3 minute round was up!
that orange theory class sounds like a good one!
