Happy Sunday! I hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July celebrations and ate all the watermelon possible.
Workout-wise week started off with mostly running but I switched it up toward the end. I keep saying I want to run fewer days but increase the mileage of each run. It all depends on my work schedule (which I don’t know) so I’ll probably just keep doing what I’m doing until I leave the city.
I decided to renew my ClassPass membership for one more month and plan to do a follow-up post to “Adventures in ClassPass” featuring the new studios I’ve tried.
Sunday: 3 treadmill miles. It was a pretty boring run but it was pouring in R.I. and I wanted to do something before the train ride back to the city.
Monday: 5.5 miles in Central Park. I did my “normal” loop. I feel weird calling it “normal” because I still get that “pinch-me-I’m-dreaming” feeling.
Tuesday: 3.1 miles + EVF 360 workout. Third time there, third awesome workout.
Instructions: 2 minutes to complete the circuit. Rest for any remainder of the 2 minutes. Repeat circuit for a total of 5 times before moving on to the next one.
Circuit 1
20 air squats
20 calorie row
Circuit 2
20 KB swings
10 burpees
Circuit 3
20 box jumps (I did step-ups)
10 push-presses
Wednesday: 4 miles. My legs were sore so it was a slow-ish recovery/shakeout run.
Thursday: Flywheel 45 (45 minutes). More on this soon but *spoiler alert* I liked it better than SoulCycle.
Friday: SLT (Strengthen, Lengthen, Tone). It’s a megaformer class (remember I tried that a few months ago?) and a workout hotspot in the city. I actually paid out of pocket for this class because it wasn’t on ClassPass, but I’ll include it in my next round-up post. Spoiler alert again…it hurt so good and I was sore all day Saturday.
Saturday: Off.
I might do a longer run today (Sunday) depending on how tired I am. I need to do it instead of just saying I’ll do it!
WOW it is my dream one day to take a run in central park- it seems like such an iconic and beautiful place to be! Can’t wait to hear about this flywheel class ;).

It honestly feels like a dream running there. It’s what I’m going to miss most about the city at the end of the summer.
I’ve been doing shorter distances and more runs, but I am wanting to start doing longer distances and less runs, but it can be tough to get long ones in before I have to go into work in the morning. I do love building up my mileage though!

Time is an issue for me too! Not too sure I want to wake up earlier than I need to during the week haha.
I did a 6 mile run on Saturday morning after doing a leg workout on Friday…OMG my legs felt like cement blocks…HA! Depends on the week, but sometimes I like a lot of shorter runs or 2 long runs…It also depends on my mood. ;)

I’m very surprised I ran well yesterday considering my legs were still sore from the megaformer class on Friday. But it’s the good type of sore :) I agree, it depends on the week and my mood how much I want to run.
I love keeping up with your workouts! You always manage to impress me with how varied you keep it. It looks like you never get bored! As for me and running, I have never done a standard “long run,” so I think I would love to get over that five mile hump (that’s the farthest I’ve run- usually its just two) and make it into 8 or 9 miles. Maybe one day!
Hope you had a lovely holiday weekend. Emily!

I know exactly what you mean about the 5 mile hump, but still, that’s an amazing length to run. I love varying my workouts and it *knock on wood* prevents injuries and burn-out.
I don’t know what it is about running in the rain, but it always gets me so pumped out. I actually feel as if my pace is much quicker too.
To answer your question about distances – when I was running quite often, I didn’t really have a favorite. There’d be times when I’d run shorter distances more throughout week & others when I’d run long distances a few times a week. It also depended on whether or not I was training for a race.
If it wasn’t cold I probably would have run outside in the rain. But I’m a wimp :) I think my running preference depends on a lot of things: weather, time, whether I’m training or not, etc. Considering I’ve only really run shorter distances more often I’m curious to see if I like this new “method.”
