Hello from Tampa. Last night was my dad’s 50th birthday party and the surprises followed through perfectly! A great night celebrating a great man.
On to the workout’s from last week…
Monday: 5 miles. I was rudely interrupted by a bloody nose about 1.5 miles into the run. I used to get bloody noses almost every week when I was little, but now it’s more like a handful of times a year (usually when the weather changes). Luckily it stopped after 5 minutes and, to make up for lost time, I ran the last 3.5 faster than I planned. It worked out OK I guess!
Tuesday: Hot yoga. I had a long day ahead of me and knew getting some sort of workout in would start me off on the right foot. It was a rest/cross-training day and yoga seemed like the logical answer. Note to self: Yoga at 6 a.m. does NOT wake you up like a run at 6 a.m. does. It was an awesome and much-needed practice but I needed some caffeine later in the day.
Wednesday: 8 miles in the morning + spin at night. Everything felt pretty great during the run, no complaints there! For my spin class later that day I used an “American themed” playlist in honor of 9/11 (which was the following day).
Thursday: 5 miles. Pretty sure I had D.O.M.S. (delayed onset muscle soreness) from yoga on Tuesday. My hips, hamstrings and upper back were (good) sore. In between a steady pace warm-up and cool down, I did 1/4 mile repeats at faster than race pace with equal distance recovery.
Friday: Rest. It was a travel day for me!
Saturday: 16 miles. I felt so good. There’s really no other way to say it (<– even though I’m always hesitant to admit when things feel good). I honestly could have kept going…and I almost did. I stopped at 16, still feeling strong, but reminded myself that now is not “peak time.” I have about 7 weeks until race day and need a few more long runs under my belt. I can only hope that if I continue doing what I’ve been doing that my next few long runs (and RACE DAY!) will feel just as good.
Oh, and I got to run my favorite route of all time. Bayshore.

Wow!! That post right there motivated me to workout for the week. I’ve definitely been putting off running and sticking to yoga and shorter ab workouts, but your post motivated me to go for a run. I’m so happy I found your blog & will def visit again the the future! XO, Nicole @ http://www.empirestyles.com
Thanks for stopping by! I’m hoping to fit in more yoga and ab work actually. They’re both so important!
