One week from today I will be at the starting line. It’s surreal for a few reasons. 1) That I’ll be in NYC in 4 days…I feel like I have so much to do before then! 2) That I’ll be running a marathon. 3) That I’ll be running THE NYC Marathon. Normally my weeks are pretty standard, but I have a feeling that the next seven days will be something special. More on that soon!
As for workouts, they have been short and sweet. Nothing eventful to report other than it rained all week…in case you were wondering about the weather in Miami.
Monday: 4.25 miles + hot vinyasa yoga. Extra hip openers per my request.
Tuesday: Rest. Contemplated going to 6 a.m. yoga but my eyes wouldn’t open. True story.
Wednesday: 3.5 miles + spin. As usual I took spin pretty easy and kept the workout for the riders. Next week I’ll be playing a Halloween themed playlist. I will share this week!
Thursday: 3 miles. I slept in and moved my run to the afternoon. Probably 2 minutes after I finished running the rain started. Torrential downpour. I got lucky!
Friday: Hot vinyasa yoga.
Saturday: 8 miles. It was the first non-rainy morning all week and I enjoyed the cooler temperatures. I had to make an emergency bathroom stop midway (TMI sorry), so that made me worried for race day. I didn’t do anything different the night before so I’m not sure what happened.
Sunday: Slow flow yoga, walk or rest. I don’t have any plans tomorrow (yay!) so I will probably randomly decide what to do, if anything, last-minute.

Thank you! I appreciate it :)
Oh good luck with this! I’m rooting for you! One of my good friends is a marathon runner and I see how hard she works!
Thanks, Erika! Your friend is lucky to have someone who is supportive with her training.
I’m obsessed with Yoga! So happy to see someone else who seems to love it as much as I do!

I just started practicing regularly a year ago and I’m obsessed. So glad I found it!
WOW, I don’t think I’ll ever have it in me to get motivated for a full marathon…you go, girl! How do you even prep for that? Are you eventually running all 26 miles in practices?!
lovelovelove,

Thanks! I spent over 4 months training (and I had already been running for 6 years). The farthest I ran during training is 20 miles, so I will only conquer the full 26.2 on race day!
I’m doing my first marathon in a little less than a month! So excited! What did you do for your taper?
Sarah Sandler recently posted…The Most Epic Food Weekend: A Recap
That’s so exciting! What race? I did a 3 week taper but many people only do 2 weeks. I started after my 20 miler and then went down to 12 the next week, then 8 and then it was the race. I did a lot of stretching and foam rolling during that time too.
Miami! Ok good I’m doing a 20 miler tomorrow and the race is Jan 24! Thanks for the advice :)
